Shaft in a hibore fairway

I am going to get a hibore 3 wood with a prolaunch blue shaft. i am stuck on whether to get a regular or stiff flex. i have about a 90 to 95 ss. i am looking for more control. does the prolaunch play softer or stiffer than what it says.

it plays a tad softer , but with your ss you can get away with it. it does help the ball up and has low torque

Be very carefull with this!!! I fit about 100 golfers a year and I've run into 1 who could hit the prolaunch well. The low torque of the shaft actually hurts it in my opinion. My advice- NVS 75, try it in reg. Its a much better shaft for most players than the prolaunch is.

I agree with the last statement. I have always used the prolaunch in most any woods because it is one of the few with a low kickpoint and I hit all woods low. But I have gone away from the prolaunch and couldn't be happier. For some reason I just don't like anything about the shaft really. I know stock shafts aren't that good but I think the stock shaft for the Hibore is better than the prolaunch. It might be different with you though.

being that im in the middle between a reg and stiff. what would be the right way to go. stiff or reg?

depends, if your regular miss is right, go reg. if you miss left, go stiff. if ballflight is too low go reg and vice versa...

yes i do seem to be able to hit the ball better with the reg compared to the stiff. yesterday i alternated between a reg and a stiff of the same club and i was able to hit better with the reg.

IMO R flex is the right choice with the Prolaunch shaft in your Hibore 3 wood. To answer your original question, in my experience the Prolaunch shafts play more stiff to flex than most other OEM stock shafts that I've tried and I've hit many OEM drivers and fairway woods with stock shafts. The S flex PL is not as stout as the S flex Blue but it's no softer for me than an S flex NV65. I haven't hit any of the stock Hibore shafts but the PL65 and 75 R flex feel at least as stiff and more stable than the S flex stock Launcher Comp shaft and the previous generation S flex Launcher Gold shaft. I'm a fan of the PL shaft but like the original Blue if you don't load them properly they tend to feel boardy and you won't get the higher ballflight you'd expect from a low kick shaft. You didn't mention what weight PL you were considering but for whatever reason the 75 feels smoother to me than the 65 and I really liked the feel and flight of the 75 that I tried in 2 different 3 woods. If you're ordering one through an authorized Cleveland dealer you can specify the 55, 65 or 75 gram version because Cleveland's custom dept. offers all three.
