Is there a noticeable difference for an avg. golfer?

Hey everyone, first post here. I've sure learned a lot on the forums here since I recently joined and I really value all the knowledge sharing here. Thanks!

Ok, so I'm a bogey golfer and today I just picked up a Cleveland CG15 58º - 12 bounce wedge (thinking of having it bent to 57º or 56º, but will wait in case I like the 58º - that's another topic) and I got home and noticed it has the new "Tour Zip Grooves" with the laser whatever etching and not the old "Zip Grooves". I know the Zip Grooves are non-conforming and the Tour Zip Grooves are conforming, but I'm not concerned about conformance since I'm just an recreational/amateur golfer. My real question is will a non-pro like me notice much of a difference by not having the extra spin of the deeper wider original zip grooves? Is it really going to be much of a difference on the course? I haven't hit the club yet so I can still return it for a refund and I know there are still some CG15's out there with the old zip grooves that I could hold out for if it makes sense to. I do want a lot of control and spin but really anything will be better than my worn out Vokey.

Advice? Thoughts?

great site here. welcome. definitely a difference in grooves. you will benefit from older grooves. i would say the ball you play would have more to do with it than the wedge in this case.

Interesting. Good to know. I've been playing mostly TM Burner TP LDP and TM Black LDP.

Any other thoughts on Tour Zip vs Zip? Big difference?

Out of the fairway, if you were to strike the TZG and the ZG the same, you would notice very little difference in spin. The big difference you would see (even as an amateur) is out of thicker and fluffier areas. The premise is that the ZG's are wider allowing more debris to pass through so you still make good ball contact and generate more spin.
