My funniest 2 golf stories

Hi.

New to the forum, rejoining the game of golf... played on my team in High School (poorly), didn't play much in college, moved to Idaho for 3 months and did nothing but golf... got down to a 4 handicap (and lost 50 pounds)... moved back into the real world, regained the weight and stopped playing golf again... 6 years later I've decided to get back into shape and re-devote myself to my favorite hobby. Golf. I live in Kentucky, and have played a total of 4 rounds here, all of them this month. Round #5 is tomorrow. I'm trying to adjust to muni golf, as I grew up spoiled playing on the courses my parents were members at for free.

Currently trying to balance work, life, golf and money. I also turn 30 at the end of the month. That's about it for me... onto my favorite golf stories!

1. While living in Idaho, I played "The Valley Club" every day... I knew all the regulars, all the staff... everyone. The course usually was never too crowded during the week, but one day my mom and I got stuck behind a slow playing foursome who spent more time talking on cell phones and smoking cigars than they did playing golf.

We caught up with them on around the fourth hole, and had been waiting for them to graciously offer to let us play through. They did not want to oblige, and continued to fall further and further behind the group ahead of them. By the seventh hole, we were frustrated... fortunately the eighth hole fixed our problems for us.

We were walking the course, as were they. One of the gentleman had an electric, remote controlled cart. The eight hole is a short par four, about 320 yards with water all down the right side and guarding the green. We got to the tee box, and the group was approaching their second shots. The guy with the remote control cart was talking on his cell phone, walking away from his cart... as he was yammering away, his cart took off towards the water. We got his attention in time for him to watch it fall into the lake. The clubs ended up in about 2 feet of water, and they let us play through. Karma works out sometimes.

2. This is my dad's story... One of his friends was playing in a tournament at the same club, on the same hole. Behind the bunkers on the left side of the course is a giant, rusted statue of a moose. Some like it, some hate it. My dad's friend hated it. He hated it so much, he felt the need to express his hatred of it to his randomly assigned cart mate. Unfortunately for him, his cart mate owned the house, and the statue.

Wanting to spread his misery around, he went to the other cart... explained how he had stuck his foot in his mouth, but defended his words because the moose was so ugly, and he just hates the damn thing... unfortunately, he explained this to the artist who had designed and built said moose... My dad's friend spent the rest of the round being VERY quiet.
