Yellow Callaway Nikon LR550 or Bushnell V2?

I've been leaning towards the V2 because a few of my playing partners have it and they all seem happy with it - however I have a bunch of pro shop credit and the shop does not have an account with Bushnell, but carries the yellow Callaway Nikon LR550.

 

I've been doing my research and it seems they both get great reviews, however I've read some people saying the LR550 is fragile? (ie battery lid pops off, lens pops off?)

Have had the Callaway/Nikon LR800 for about 18 months now and am very pleased with it. Think that is the same body/housing as the LR550 and there is no issue with the battery compartment popping off as it is a flush screw cap affair that retains the battery on those models. Unit seems pretty robust so far as it's been dropped a few times since I got it.

Only thing I haven't liked was that the battery indicator dropped off with no warning. Showed full battery right up until it ran out of juice and stopped reading. CR3 Battery lasted just over a year/100 rounds. Wanted to see just how long I would get out of a battery but had started carrying a spare at around the 12 month mark. Minor issue that the battery indicator didn't function as it was supposed to.

Haven't compared it to the V2 but a friend has the Bushnell 1500. No real difference in performance between these units that we could determine. Both locked onto targets easily and quickly, yardages read the same across both units, both stopped reading at the same time when there was fog/mist in the air. The only benefit of the of the 1500 was that the eyepiece/field of view was a lot wider. If you wear glasses or lenses then the smaller field of view with the callaway might be an issue. Not sure what the set up is with the V2 but that would be one of the things I'd look out for when comparing units.

I have had the LR550 (white) for nearly 3 years. No issues whatever with anything popping off and performs perfectly. Just replaced my second battery. I play about 80 rounds per year.
