Cold Weather, altitude and Distance

How much does it affect each shot?

Ok, the winter is coming and morning temperatures are starting to drop... I play some mornings and I've found that the ball travels less when its cold than when its warm/hot... Now the question is... HOW MUCH??? I know the Vector LM has some feature where you can adjust the temperature and altitude (which is a little easier to figure out), but again, how much?
Last thursday I started playing at 7am and it was 42F... After a few holes I figured that my distance was off about 6-9 yards (which is almost one club difference), but it took me a few holes....

Also, I know Camilo Villegas adjusted his yardages by 3.5% when he went from FL to AZ for the FBR open... 3.5% sounds pretty small, but when you have a shot that is 175 yards, that little 3.5% comes to 6 yards, which means you have a 20 ft putt rather than a tap in... I dont have that kind of control (yet (cool) ) with my clubs, but just curious..

Is there a more "scientific" way to approach these 2 questions or is it best to go by trial and error??

As a michiganer I know the feeling. FOR ME.........I lose about 25 yards on the drive and about two irons in distance. For example from 145 yards in the summer I take a 7 iron..........now I take my 26* hybrid. Now I don't contribute this all this to temperature. But with the loss of flexability, softer ground, cold balls, bunches of clothes on, etc. this is what I found. This is not including the wind. Depending on the wind I can hit hybrid from where I would otherwise his wedge in the summer. (cool)

This won't give you the answer you are looking for but I was thinking about the same thing...only for hot, humid weather. Playing this summer early in the morning in Orlando the dewpoint is around 75 and the humidity over 80%. With the heavy air I notice I do not get as much carry as I do in dry, non humid conditions. The 7000 yard course I play is a lot longer at 7:00 in the morning in August than say 1:00 in the afternoon in January.

 

I know you guys that live in cold climates don't want to hear me b****...but it's not always great conditions for golf in FL either :beach:

 

Is their a website or does someone know how to calculate how heat, humidity and elevation affect a golf ball?

I'm from iceland and the temperture here - well it's not warm :beach: I've lost about 20 yards with the irons, from august to okctober. My driver and 3-wood have dropped also but not as clearly but still, they've also dropped I thought it was the swing first but when i saw my dad play, I saw that he also has dropped 10-15 yards with the irons.

I use 10% off my normal distances in the winter. I live in the southeast so winter is not as cold as the north. I find reducing the adjustment to a percentage is easier and more consistent through the bag.
