Arcadia Bluffs - Arcadia, MI - PICS

Thought I'd share some pics of the breathtaking views from Arcadia bluffs. If you are ever in north-western michigan, Arcadia Bluffs is a must-play course.

I was able to play this beauty last friday and it was in excellent condition with exception of the aerated greens. Not only did they plug aerate them, they also split them which made it a nightmare to put on. It was pretty dissapointing since I could have easily shout an under-par round if I could sink some putts. :(

There's a few at the end of The Bear (Jack Nicklaus Design) in traverse city.

"Easily" shoot under par at Arcadia? You must be a beast.

Lee Janzen holds the course record there, 66.

I "easily" broke 100 (97 actually) from the back tees and was ECSTATIC at that. Actually, I should have been playing up a set or two. Better yet, I used the SAME PRO V1x the entire round! A guy in our group shot an awesome 76 I think.

Here are pics of Arcadia Bluffs:

Really though, the greens there are very TRICKED UP, I am quite sure that everyone on this board who has played here will agree.

I thought the course was well layed out with the exception of 18. This hole was just plain stupid IMO. The approach shot was COMPLETLEY blind. The green was also down-right stupid. Almost expected to putt through a windmill on the 18th.

I also hate those little 2 foot pins they have.. WTF is up with that? If it wasn't for the GPS, I would have a hard time estimating yardage with those little a** pins.

The greens there are like putt putt golf. They are so "tricked up". That is the only thing that I did not like about that course.

To me, it really just followed the contours of the land, but some of them are a bit "crazy"..

But, thanks for the pictures!! It's nice to see it later in the year since we went so late. Fall through the midwest is amazing (even though it's supposed to snow night and we'll been dealing with 30+ mph winds today and tomorrow.. :(

Some friends and I did a hole trip through that portion of Michigan at the beginning of the summer. Hit up Hawks Head, The Ravines, St Ives, Tulleymore, Arcadia, and Pilgrams Ridge. Had decent rounds from the championship tees on all the courses except St Ives and Tulleymore. I have a person vendeta on those courses next year, but they were still unbelieveable. Tulleymore is absolutely amazing..

Onto the pics:

I played Arcadia in June and I played Hawkshead in late July.

I hope to play Ravines and Pilgrim's Run next summer when we vacation Grand Haven.

BTW, the short flagsticks are in place due to the wind on the course, if they had the tall ones, they would be on the ground all the time.

The Ravines was alright.. not the best Palmer course I've been on, but it was still a good time. There were just holes that seems tricked up to me. Still worth the trip though..

I really enjoyed Pilgrim's Run though. Definitely a track I'll visit again..

If you're staying at Grand Haven, try to get out and play Grand Haven CC (http://grandhavengolfclub.com/?page=1724). Semi-private club just outside of down (south-side) that my brother and I stopped at on our way back from a business meeting on that side of the pond. We had a lot of time to wait for the high-speed ferry, so we figured we'd get a round in. Seemed like a decent place, so why not..

Afterwards, we were both pleasantly surprised. Very challenging old styled course with narrow, tree lined fairways through the sand bluffs that are prevelant in the area. I wish I had some pictures to show, as I really think for the price it's a llittle gem in the area.

It already has been added for our Michigan trip this spring/summer..

The fairways at GrandHaven GC are Aabout "5 feet wide" or so it seems..Played that 2 years ago. Absolutely no desire to be brutalized any more there....very pretty course though.

I'll check out Lake Michigan Hills GC as well next summer!

I also played two cheaper, yet fun courses around Grand haven called Terre Verde and Pigeon Creek GC....
