Decent club fitter in Melbourne, Victoria?

Hey all,

This is for the people in Melbourne Victoria Aust!...

I went to a demo day about 9 months ago when I was after a new full set... basically hit everything there and bought gear from my local pro judging on what I liked the most.

Ive been to another since, just to try the 712 irons out to compare against my 710 Cbs. However, Ive noticed that both times, the 2 Titleist reps have trackman up or anything similar to work with someone in really finding the right setup.

This is mainly focused on my Driver. Ive got the 910D2 with ProjectX 7C3. I hit the ball fairly well, I'm a long hitter but I hit the ball HIGH. Im not at all convinced this is the correct combo. I need to work with someone one on one with a computer to give me numbers on D2 or D3 with a combo of shafts. And it must be outdoosr so I can see the flight myself.

It seems the guys in the states have the best fit ups. Who here in Melbourne can help me out with this? I want to feel confident that the stick in my hand is the right one.

I'm a 7 marker, SS av 114mph. (only know this because of an indoor ball fitting I did at Drummond golf)

Apparently there is a Titleist fitter at Spring Valley golf course, a mate of mine was off there recently to get the right shaft for his 910 setup

Just a thought but from my experience Jon doesn't have shafts for you to try and see the flight of. You will only hit into a net with swing speed measured

Not sure how much luck you are going to have, most of the private clubs will have basic fitting carts but I would guess most of their shafts will be aimed at more average swing speeds. As far as I know the only Trackman in Victoria is at Royal Melbourne, you would have to call the pro shop to see if it for members use only though. If I was a betting man I would say Lloyd would have one at the Capital, must be nice to have your own course!

Not sure titleist may have a fitting centre somewhere in the Melbourne. Your best bet is to go to an outdorr demo day and try every shaft they have. When I re-shafted my 910 D2 I hit around 100 balls with different shafts at Albert park driving range on a demo day. I watch the flight and got a feel for ehat shaft did what. no trackman was there but the fact i hit so many balls with a heap of different shafts gave me the indication I was after. I am similar specs to you. I swing the driver around 112 and the 6 iron at 92 on average. i ended up getting an Aldila RIP 70 gram in x flex. I still hit the ball high but it was better than the diamana ahina I originally had it. I have recently grabbed a razr fit and put in a px black 6.5 and it is similar to the rip. Still my ball flight is high. I may try a heavier shaft to bring things down a little.

Hi

I have been fitting clubs for over 10 years. I started as a hobby to get the best out of my own clubs, and it became very popular. I have fitted a lot of clubs so I have a fair idea of what it takes to fit a club correctly. I am not a golf pro, I have degrees in engineering and electronics, and I base my fitting on those disciplines and golf club fitting best practice . I don't use launch monitors anymore, I watch how you hit the ball, at a range.

I look at a number of things, but primarily swing speed, tempo, release, and swing plane, and decide what shaft/head combo I think will work for you. The main criteria I use in selecting a shaft is cpm and torque which I measure myself. R or S does not mean much. I don't have fitting carts or 10 different shafts to show you, as I would have to have 100 shafts to do the job properly. I do not hold stock so I do not need to push anything. I start with what you have and go from there.
