Flightscope & Flightscope App

So I just bought a flightscope x2 and totally whiffed on the fact that their software is not compatible w my mac...I'm a dumbass I know...I did know that my iphone was compatible w the scope if wifi is present. My question is this: can I run the flightscope right off of the flightscope app I downloaded for my phone(another $49) w/o downloading the software onto a pc?

 

I havent had a chance to try it yet, thus the post.

you may want to look into running dual OS on you mac if it is one of the newer ones that can....like Parallels

Parallels or VM Fusion (what I use) would probably work, but you'll probably get somewhat better performance bootcamping your machine (basically starting your mac as a windows machine). It works great, and the only downside is having to reboot your machine to get back to your other programs.

FYI, for any of these options, you'll need to purchase a windows license.

Definitely go the bootcamp route over parallels. I use it for all the old software that doesn't work on OSX since my wife changed us over to a mac house. Just make sure you get the correct version of windows 32bit vs 64bit for your machine. I think the newer macs are 64 bit but could be mistaken since I just did what was necessary for the machine we have which is 32bit

Presumably outside you could run the software on a macbook to take advantage of the camera alignment tool. Once aligned you could just use the iPad/iphone app (so you don't attract too much attention/look too much like a tosser)

Old thread resurrected but good info to know is that the iPad app VX2 is able to control your X2 and do all the great things you would want it to, even video.

correct me if i am wrong, but there are a couple of setup functions you need usb wiring for. eg camera alignment

The camera of the iPad will work best for video now and can also be used for alignment if you install the iPad bracket.

Updating the firmware will require a USB connection to a PC or solid emulator from time to time.
