Ping Tour S wedges

Rustique or regular? looking for input

Going to an all Ping bag this year. Set-up will be as follows:


I15 driver 9.5 TFC 700 stiff. Soon to be re-shafted with my favorite shaft, the Grafalloy Prolite 3.5. (Okay maybe 1b, Oban Devotion 7 is 1a)

i15 3 wood, 14 deg with the stock Axivcore

i15 2H, 17 deg with the stock Axivcore

S56 irons, 3-Pw black dot. I love S300's, but I am going with Z-Z65's. Played them before with very good success. For me a better option than S300 SL.

Here is what has me undecided. I plan on getting my wedges with S300's. Thought about custom ordering with Z-Z65's as well, but think I'd like the extra heft in the wedges. Big question is do I go with the regular 17-4 model or try out the 8620 Rustique. I have never owned wedges that were designed to rust. I understand the reasoning behind them. Main input I am looking is from people who have hit both. Did you notice any significant difference in feel or performance?

Wedge set-up will be 52 and 58 deg models.


Last club wll be the iWi Anser putter.

I'm all most all PING I have the s56 irons 7-pw and like the matching satin look. The rustiques look pretty nice also. Flip a coin.

Both look great I opted for the rustique cause I like that finish. The sole and slightly up the face is silver. The rest is rusty color. If the 2 tone doesnt bother you go rustique

I have used both but chose the satin Tour S wedges with KBS Tour shafts, I found they felt about the same, I prefer the satin finish as far as looks go.

I have two sets of all Ping. One set is I15s 3-UW, with a 54* Tour-S and 58* Tour-S Rustique with KBS shafts. Love the rust look, but to tell the truth I don't notice the difference that much in feel. I also have a 56* Tour-S rustique when I carry my 2 iron. They are great wedges. To each his own, but I really like them better than the Vokeys. It is interesting to see the photos on WRX at the tour stops. You see more Tour-Ss in bags than the new Ansers. I have Eye2 XGs in my other set. Love that finish too.
