stay on property or rent a house?

I'm in the initial stages of planning a 4-5 day trip to Bandon. Looking to play 18-36 per day. Last time we went we rented a house. This worked out since we weren't looking for prime tee times (only needed to fit in 18 holes) and it saved us a bunch of money overall. But, wondering how tough it is to get 36 in if staying off property, and if you can get prime early morning times. Anyone faced this "dilemma" and if so, what did you end up doing? Thanks!

It's going to depend on the size of your group. If you are going alone you shouldn't have a problem getting early tee times each day. If you are going as a group of 2 you may get lucky on some days. If you are a group of 3 or more I imagine it would be near impossible to get a tee time in the first 2-3 hours of the tee sheet. That being said in the summer you can play golf pretty late so if you get off at 1030 (where I would expect). You could still get a second 18 in.

When I went in June I wanted to get 54 in each day so stayed on site to ensure we were the first or second group off each day and booked about 5 months early.

Everyone wants to play early during the high season at Bandon and they give priority to those that are staying on site....just an FYI. The last time I played there during the high season, the rounds played alot faster than during the shoulder season rounds I've played there.

depends. if you go in July when the days are longest, you should be able to tee off around 4pm and get your last round in.

I have always stayed at the resort. And typically get one of the first tee times of the day in the summer. Then usually done 36 by 4pm.

Remember, you're also going to want to play the new Par 3 course as well.
