Where should I go?

I am starting to plan a golf getaway for next Nov 23 to Dec 3, 2012. I would be very interested in some feedback on what might be the better choice. I will be traveling solo and will be looking to stay in moderate priced accomodation. I figure about 8 days of golf. I have done a couple of trips to Scottsdale during the thanksgiving and spring time.

What is the weather like in Palm Springs at thanksgiving time. Is overseeding happening at that time of year.? What kind of dollars should I expect to pay for golf.? What time does the sun rise and fall in Palm Springs.? How long a drive from Ontario to Palm Springs.

I realize most of my questions are about Palm springs but the only comparison I have is Scottsdale from my last trip 2 years ago. I need to start planning now as I need the time to find my best deals.

No over seeding in PS then. I used to live there and my brother lived in PHX. November in PS is simply the best month. Courses fully seeded, green and lush and MUCH less traffic than winter/spring. PS is a lazy destination, so if playing golf and chilling out is the priority, PS is it. If playing golf and wanting high energy is your thing, then PHX is a better choice, since it is a city. Both offer great golf. The decision lies in the what do I do after or before golf category...I choose PS.

if you are going solo and your only intent is golf and relax, than i too say palm springs. it is sleepy. however if you wanna go out and grab a bite and a beer in the evening, then i say phx/scottsdale.

scottsdale has better social atmosphere, shopping, and better restaurants/food. something you may or may not want to consider. again depends entirely on your frame of mind what you are looking for.

i find palms springs extremely boring.

My vote is for Arizona. More places to play, stay, eat, drink....socialize, etc. PS is kinda dead imo.

It definitely depends on what you are looking for. I have made trips to both PHX and PS. I just got back from PS two weeks ago. The trip was amazing... the amount of top notch restaurants and courses was draw dropping. PGA West is phenomenal. They have a replay rate (not advertised so you definitely need to ask about that). I played the TPC Stadium and I played the Nicklaus tournament course. I also played Silver Rock (Palmer design) and that was also breathtaking. I golfed alone as well and it was awesome. Each group I was paired with was great.

When I went out in Palm Springs it was definitively an older crowd but still had stuff going on. I am 26 and enjoyed it so I am sure just about anyone would unless you were wanting to party at night and golf hungover the next day.... then Phoenix is definitely the place to be. Lots of great clubs there and gorgeous women.
