My swing - I slice, can't get through the ball

Let me have it....

Overview: I'm about a 9 handicap, getting back into golf after 2 years. These are some older videos but the same problems still persist. I have the hardest time getting through the ball. I either push or slice..... or both. Plus I usually end up with a sore left knee.

My analysis: My hip turn is awful (doesn't exist) and I think I've got the typical outside to inside path causing me to push/slice. I would appreciate some drills or things to focus on so I can straighten out my tee shots.

Thanks for the welcome! I've never heard of early extension, but now that I read and think about it, it sure makes sense. My primary slice/push problem occurs with my driver. I played 18 holes over the weekend and hit 3 fairways....... Almost any slice starts with contact right off the heel of my driver, I can feel it every time. I'm obviously throwing my hips forward at the start of the downswing and increasing my shaft angle on the ball to compensate which puts the face wide open.

Going to look up some drills to stop this. Thanks Goose!

Follow up - I went to the range last night and also played about 14 holes. I made a conscious effort to make sure I stood closer to the ball than I normally would as I thought my early extension problem was related to standing too far away, specifically with my driver. I also made sure I pushed my hands forward more than I usually do at address in order to have more of a straight line from my left arm, down to the club head.

At address, since I was standing so close to the ball I had it in my mind that the only way I was going to be able to get back to the ball and get contact in the center of the club face was to sufficiently turn my body on the downswing, starting with the hips.

Anyways, whatever I was doing worked well. I probably had the best day off the tee I've had in 3 years, only missing 3 fairways. Hopefully I can keep it going. Thanks for the early extension tip!
