Hello Golfwrx,

I decided to start posting in the forums so I figured I would post my swing video to introduce myself. Of course any tips would be awesome, always a work in progress! Thanks.

I think you have a good swing overall. Would help to have a face on video of a full driver.

From watching the wedge video on YouTube and seeing some face on angle, I see one thing I think is a problem-

(*As you probably know, don't ever just trust what people say--you gotta figure out if it's right for yourself and see a very good teacher if anyone for advice-- but this is my two cents):

It looks like your back-swing is powered and controlled almost solely by your arms and upper body and your lower body stays very stationary

I believe in making a very full turn with the entire body in unison, anchored against your right leg and flexed knee for optimum coil leading to natural power and control.

I would get a good video of yourself swinging a driver face on and compare it to someone like Ben Hogan or Tiger Woods - look at their turn compared to yours

Look at your turn at the 44 second mark and compare it to Tiger's swing here.

You see how much bigger/full/his whole body Tiger uses to turn than your turn?

He has a much bigger/stronger coil with more rotation back and through

This "turn" and tension created produces much more power and is not powered by the hands and arms

Think of the swing like a rubber band or a bow & arrow:

1) Tiger is pulling the rubber band/bow back as far as it can go, so that so much energy is stored that it is begging to be released and launches forward with great natural energy/power
2) You are only pulling the rubber band/bow back a little bit, so that there is not much energy stored and not enough tension...so that when it is released the arrow/rubber band doesn't go very far

make sense?

This is not to say that you don't hit the ball far-but you are trying to create energy on the down swing instead of generating it with your entire swing/turn- you will hit it more consistently and more powerfully with the complete coil

I think you would improve your swing by researching and mastering the turn back

hope it helps, and put my advice to the test--it has to make sense to you and you have to work it YOUR way

Looks good man keep it up

Oh and remember to practice your short game & putting just as much or more than full swing ;)

Thanks for taking the time to have a look!

I found a Front On Driver video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgoGqYv-TfU

The wedge practice video was from last year in April so it is tough to remember what my swing thought or feel was like back then. Maybe if you could comment on this one since its from this week. Plus a driver usually shows faults a little easier.

I've always had trouble fully turning in my backswing because I've always struggled with a push, for whatever reason psychologically, without knowing, I thought the more i turn the harder it will be to square up. That and my flexibility is pretty terrible.

Thanks again for some thoughts... I love working on my swing.. putting and chipping too

Btw, Putting my swing next to Tigers hurts my feelings haha wink.gif

What does your ball flight look like? How well do you strike it?

I mean overall it looks good so if you are hitting it straight and solid for the most part then maybe that swing works for you.

However, if I were going to change it...again it looks like the same thing to me--the beginning of your swing looks 100% hands and arms moving the club--I prefer to feel like "the turn"/the slight weight shift and core & shoulder turn are doing the back swing and the hands and arms just hold onto the club

If you do nothing consciously with your hands and just let them work naturally, the club face will remain square very easily

Making a good turn won't make you push it...from the top you will swing down from "the ground up" -- weight goes forward, ankles, knees, hips lead the swing and shoulders follow and finally the club head

Modern swing teachers might like the fact that it looks like you make a very small hip turn on the backswing but it also doesn't look like your shoulder turn is very big...

Once again I just don't see a lot of coil on the back swing ---it just looks like hands and arms. . the downswing looks pretty good though and overall your swing plane and club face look good. ..

so if it aint broke don't fix it. .I just don't know how well you strike the ball

and yeah I think most of us wish we looked a little bit more like Tiger when swinging a club ;)
