Best Draining Courses in the Pacific Northwest

Where to play when it is wet

As all golfers that play winter golf in the Pacific Northwest know, it's all about drainage.

What are the best draining courses around you? I'm looking for courses to play over the next few months in Oregon and Washington specifically.

The coast courses that are built on sand seem to do pretty well.

I would recomend Gold Mountain Olympic Course, NW golf at it's best & it drains well.

Obviously, the Bandon courses. Dunes, Pac, trails.

Another vote for Gold Mountain, but the Olympic course is much newer with much better drainage and only a 1/2 hour ferry ride from Seattle.

 

Trilogy in Redmond is the best conditioned public course year round and I would recommend ANY of the Oki courses except Newcastle (waaaaaaay overpriced), but Washington National is INCREDIBLE and Trophy Lake is worth the trip out there...both fairly priced during the winter and newer so they have GREAT drainage.

 

Whatever you do, don't play ANY of the Seattle Muni's...sloppy but great courses in the summer.

I don't know about their drainage (I imagine it's ok), but I heard that Pumpkin Ridge in North Plains (West of Portland ~20miles) has a twilight of $30 after 1pm now.

 

Also heard many good things about the drainage at the Reserve (Aloha ~15 miles west of Portland), but haven't played their either. You can find good deals on Golfnow.com if you look around as well. Once again, I haven't played either course.
