Adult clubs fit for junior girl?

Recommended Posts

I have a 4'-10" junior girl. She has been playing us kids clubs but is now flexing the shafts so much they look like a noodle, especially longer clubs.

I'm looking at the ping faith line to start but think maybe still too long. Her driver now is 39" but too short. I think 41-42 is prob good but never been fit. The Faith driver is 44,5" - can you cut off 2"??

The irons are about the same - roughly 4" longer than what playing now.

I don't know - can you order shorter shafts??  Have to cut what comes in them? Etc??

Recommendations??

From personal expierence, when my dad ordered clubs for me when i was younger he would go to the store and custom order them a few inches shorter that way they would come from the factory a few inches shorter. U can cut them two inches shorter but I would get them done at a golf store that way they are done right. I have had friends that their dads did it for them and ended up screwing it up. I hope this helps.

I have a 14yr daughter that is a pretty good player. I think besides the fitting, you will see a huge benefit to switching from US kids. We have several sets of their clubs, and I know the owner personally. That being said, other clubs are better.

I took my then 12 yr old daughter and had her fit for Ping clubs. She choose the G15 clubs because she like the color better than the Faith line. They were ( and i believe still are) on sale compared to the newer clubs. She was fit to 1.5" short, and purple lie angle.

They were magic. Picked up 10-15 yds per club. Dropped from 20 handicap to 10 in one year.

Spent yesterday getting her fit for her next set of Pings.

I have ordered a couple of clubs off eBay for her and had them "adjusted" to the same specs. None of them ever really fit. I would order them from a manufacturer. And NO i dont work for Ping.

My daughter is 13 and is a competitive junior player. She is on her 3rd set of Pings (currently I20s .5" short, purple color code, reg flex steel shafts). Prior sets were G5s. Ping is by far your best bet because of the easy fitting options, the excellent performance, and best yet... great resale value.

I have gotten in the habit of changing my daughter's clubs in the late fall. This way she has the winter to get used to the new weights, length, ect. Last fall (10 y/o 5'2" - 100lbs), I took a chance on a New Ebay set of Nike Pro Cavity w/ project X shafts 4.8 (Listed as women's). When I got them I realized the 4.8 is a senior shaft. I started off this having her choke down a couple inches. This worked through the winter. By spring she grew again, now they fit perfect. This will be the 1st year I have not had to buy her at least 1 set of clubs.

Remember, girls grow fast between 10-14 y/o.

Regards,

Michael A.
