New Desktop Software for Garmin Approach G5 and G6 Users

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I have just finished a major upgrade of my Approach Stats app that adds G6 support, handicap calculations, custom date ranges for stat views, and the ability to manually add rounds not recorded on your Approach.

It has had a fair amount of testing, but a few more eyes on it never hurts. If you're interested in trying out a beta version please PM me with your email address and I'll email you a copy.

This version is for Mac, but after it is finalized I will be porting it to Windows soon. So, if your running WIndows and want to check it out please PM me as well and I'll get a copy out to you as soon as it is ready.

Yes it should, and did in versions 1.x. Haven't tested this version with the G3, but the data parsing routines have not really changed for the G5 so it should continue to work for the G3.

Obviously the statistical view will be unusable as the G3 does not recorded them, but you can certainly use it to database your rounds for viewing, and for handicap calculations.

All you need to do is delete the database file. On Windows 7 it is at:

C:\<yourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Approach Stats\approachStats.asdb

But you'll need to use the command line to do this as Windows 7 Explorer will not allow you to navigate to this directory. Do you have experience using the command line or do you need further instructions?

I can't seem to find this directory anywhere on my laptop...it is running Windows 7 Home Edition. Is there a different directory for this OS?

I am simply making a call to Windows for the user's application support directory for persistent data, and writing the file to that location. Can't imagine it would change for different editions of the same OS.

So what happens when you launch the command prompt and enter the following:

cd AppData\Roaming\Approach Stats

Maybe I'm not on the command line after all...I left click the start button and key it in on what appears to be the search line. I guess I don't know how to get to the command line after all.

Look in your programs for "Command Prompt". If you have never launched before you should find it in Accessories.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
