Custom driver fitting

So the day arrived. I was off to one of the UK's best club fitters. I have always just browsed fleabay an bought things willy nilly and had a whack for a while before drooling over the next shinny stick I've ready about generally on here... Or the new shaft that I really want to try after reading about it generally on here. Sound familiar? :)

 

So I went in very excited and nervous about wether I'd be hitting the ball well enough to get a consistent result. Anyway the shop was a golfers dream.... Every shaft... Every head... Trackman... You name it. I was in ore of the place and the experience of the fitter Jason. He looked at my swing and clubs and told me what my misses were told me that in a round I hit balls like a scratch golfer and some like a 28. So I went it for a driver fitting and it appears the driver was the least of my concerns. I tried a few irons shafts and wow the difference was night and day. Currently px6.0... Changing to dg TI X100

Launch a lot better dropping angle smash factor distance the lot was night and day. As he said it doesn't matter wether your cream it 9 times out of ten... That's the point. The right shaft will get you doing that the wrong one will bring you to 3/10.

 

Got to the driver and it was exactly the same... My current shaft, a tp6hd was basically no good. I hit a number of shafts, black ties, bubbas, Accra, etc etc and ended up choosing between px6.5 and Accra tour z. Went with the Accra as just felt like "the one".

 

I do vow, never to buy off the rack again or off fleabay and will go to Jason Mcniven at Golf Principles in Basignstoke for every club in my bag. I can't begin to now preach the importance of custom fitting and remember,

 

Your only as good as the fitter who fit you.
