Anyone using swingbyswing app?

Basic is free, more advanced club tracking only $14/yr, and ability to review game at home.

 

I played nine holes with it and tried it without instruction so it took me three or fours holes to figure how to use it. But it seems pretty cool. Anyone else use this or have alternatives?

 

I'm an android user now but planning to go iPhone in a few months, so both are options for me. Thanks.

I use swing by swing and like it. have you used the club tracker? i bought it but didnt get to use it because i didnt want to hold every one back while i fidgeted with my phone every shot.

I tried to, but I was doing something wrong, because none of my yardage was tracked per club. It took me a few holes to figure out how to use the app. I was alone (literally, only guy out on the entire course - but it was 1pm on a weekday and it was overcast, about 30 degrees, and miserable) so i wasn't holding anyone up. I might have messed myself up because I played nine and tried to wait to submit the round until i got home. I don't know. I'm looking forward to trying it for real now that I've played around with it.

Is it too time consuming to use these aps? I just video tape my swing from the camera on my phone and take a look. Curious how the apps work

I'm interested to try it. Is the data that much more valuable than a simple video analysis app? Sometimes I feel like it's information overload with all the club tracking data.

Swing by Swing is more about GPS tracking and shot shape logging, plus rangefinder. So you build a reference for club lengths, etc.

Off the tee once my ball is away I pull my phone from my pocket unlock it and press track all by the time the ball has landed.
I enter the club #, shape, contact by the time I get to my cart or bag.
As I get to my ball i've pulled my phone, unlocked it, and give it 2-5 seconds to workout where I am while I ponder my next shot. I click "end" on the last track and then click "track" for my next shot, turn off the screen and put it back in my pocket.

Rinse, repeat.

I got another round in, this time a full 18 and my phone (HTC Sensation rooted with CM) lasted the whole round. I even tracked my Father-in-laws scores while tracking all my data. It went smoothly and I will only try other apps for the next few rounds and try to come back with some comparison data/review.
