Here's what i'd like to see. A circle t newport detour.....in black pearl :crazy:

 

A question:What metal is the insert made of?

Using the detour as a benchmark, the insert is stainless steel which extends all the way back to hold the tungsten weight on the end. The rest of the putter is aluminum. The NP detour could be similar.

In looking at the comparisons of both putters, I think that Odyssey "blends" the alignment lines better to the overall head than the Cameron. The Cameron looks like they just stuck the piece onto another one of the models. I do like the weighting option on the Cameron, however.

he is using a tour Cameron center shaft at 30", a ton of lead tape on the sole, and appears to be one of the new orange baby t grips.

Hey isn't Jim Furyk using that odyssey.

 

I really hope the newport 2 detour comes to retail soon. I love the way it looks. Also is it just me or is that insert really big?

Is the Detour coming to retail? If it is, I GUARANTEE it will sell HUGE. If I went into a store it would be the first thing I'd pick up. It's a real eye catcher and looks good IMO. I'm not a Scotty guy and i like mostly traditional style putters... but something about it intrigues me.

 

I don't like the arrow at the end much, seems pointless.. but overall, I'm a fan of the Newport Detour.

 

As for the Odessey... I shouldn't say anything... I just can't stand any of their putters :drinks:

Yes Jim Furyk is using the Marxman. And I believe if Cameron follows what he did with last years Detour he came out with at the Sony...we'll see this Newport Detour in a few months too.

Odyssey has probably the LARGEST selection of putters in the industry from 2 Ball to the "standard" look. To say that you "CAN'T STAND" any of their putters is a little ODD to me.

Yes, odd but true. Whether it's an XG mallet or the anser style head, I can tell instantly when it's an Odessey and that trademark look is something that doesn't jive with me.

 

Plus I really don't like inserts at all, let alone soft ones.

 

Furyk and other great players use them with confidence, so I will never say that Odessey makes bad putters... just putters that I do not like.

I was watching the Champions tour and I noticed that Jim Thorpe was using the Odyssey Marxman Blade Putter.

I talked to Titleist customer service on Friday and they said the Newport 2 detour will hit the retail market April 1 of this year.

I have a newport 2 and I can't wait for this detour version to hit the market. I guess you either Love it! or Hate it!
