I was lucky to be able to take these photo's and actully roll these putters today. This Newport Detour was later fitted with a 30 gram weight which really made it a very smoooooth putter to stroke. Initially I wasn't a huge fan of the looks but it rolls very well. The Odyssey Marxman was very nice also. I have never been a huge fan of the 2 Ball alignment aids (like any putter ho...I had a few though) but these two white stripes really line up well. The putter felt about 335 grams and will be coming to the market very soon.

The more I look at the Marxman, the more I find myself liking it. Plenty of places to hide the weight, so the headweight won't be an issue when getting it short. Shoot, even the Newport Detour looks less hideous to me now. Crap, I need to go look at pics of my BB-18 to remember what a putter is supposed to look like. :crazy:

Great pics and your one lucky guy to be able to roll them babys. They both look awesome and both are my kinda putters. I sure hope the cameron newport detour becomes available to the public the more and more i see that badboy the more i want one.

I love the feel of the Detour but it doesn't sit right for me. I have a feeling I would like the feel of the Newport but the look and setup of the Marxman.

Anybody else see any cosmetic similarities between the Odyssey and the Aserta putters? I'm specifically referring to what looks like the placement of weight on the top portion of the putter...

That detour variation looks really sweet...... a big improvement in terms of looking balanced, hope it makes it to production might tempt me from the pleasures of a mallet head......

Not sure why the alignment aid on the Cameron has to be bent to the inside. To me it would be a distraction! My stroke is my stroke. Why would you want to be thinking about WHERE my backstroke needs to go?!

 

I wonder if Odyssey is thinking about any weighting system in any of their putters?

I wish Scotty would stop making all these dumb putters...detour and now this...I just want a sweet putter like the Studio Stainless line! I really don't like these at all. No inserts, straight 100% milled...best ever.

I agree! I picked up a Circa 62 and it feels so much more solid than my Newport 2 with the insert.

 

I had forgotten how solid a putter could feel.

Glad you guys like the pics. As for the Newport Detours curved line....really...I didn't like it much on the C-5 when I saw it last year and had my second thoughts about it initially when I saw it on the Newport. After a few strokes with the putter, I have to say that it's not even noticeable. Much less compared to the C-5 now known as the Detour. The "detour" is very short in comparison with the C-5 version. Take a close look at the dimensions of the detour versus the lenght of the whole putter face. It's very short compared to the one on the regular Detour putter.

 

When the Newport Detour hits the market, I'm pretty sure a lot of mallet owners will definitely like it. It's being made in two neck styles. The plumbers and the Santa Fe so you'll have the 2.5 and 2 Detours out. :crazy:

I am sorry but the Scotty Newport Detour is one UGLY S.O.B.!! When I think of a Scotty putter and the looks of it, I normally see something that shines and catches my eye with nothing but beauty... But when I look at the Newport Detour, I see cheap... I think it is a poor move on Scotty's behalf.
