Steve Ball Golf - Oklahoma City

Let me preface by saying I've never been 'fit' for a golf club in my life. Yes, I gotten suggestion at golf stores, etc, by hitting on monitors but I have never gone anywhere to be specifically fit for a club. With that being said I would like input as to whether or not it would be beneficial to do something like this. I will have to travel and hour and a half to go to the place I'm going to talk about so your input is important to me.

 

From the research I have done, it seems the closest, best place for me would be Steve Ball Golf in Oklahoma City. Does anyone have any experience with this location? Here is the website.

I sent an email and Steve himself replied with the following information bast on my questions about fitting.. Is $150 worth it?

thanks for your note -- hard to explain all of it an email, but here goes.... we use the Foresight GC2 launch monitor. 100% of our fittings are conducted outdoors. we also use Pro V golf balls. we carry brands of Titleist, ping, callaway, TM, cobra, Nike, .... Cost is $150 for an hour but if you buy a driver we do not charge for the fitting. We like to measure and evaluate your driver during the fitting so we know what kind of numbers you get with it. Maybe 10% of the time a players current driver tests out well and there is no need to get another driver. Good for you to know and better than several hundred dollars on a new club. I am very honest with players about their needs.

We evaluate ball speed, launch angle, back spin and shot dispersion in determining which driver is best.

And, I have lots of knowledge about shafts. I certainly cannot keep with all of them but I have access to all of their specs.

I've had several friends go to Steve and he is the real deal according to them. They all benefited from their fitting there. Definitely worth it especially if your in the market for a new driver or irons. An hour and a half isn't bad, I do that both ways everyday. I live in Anadarko and work in OKC.

Been to Steve several times. He will be very honest with you and let you know what will work best for you. Worth the $ in my opinion.

I'd be down for an Oklahoma area wrx outing. I know a few ho's here in t town that would be down to play as well.

I'm going to add a twist to this and most likely Ball Golf is out. I totally forgot I get a substantial discount at the Winstar Golf Acadamy. As well, they have TrackMan so I think I am going to go there. Only downside. They only have TaylorMade, Titleist, and Callaway.

Oh well, I bet I can find a driver out of those three OEMs.
