Cameras?

I went to last year's show after not having gone for awhile but I don't remember... are cameras allowed in the show now? I'm going again this year and was going to take my little digital Canon since it's small enough for a pocket, but one of the guys going with me said that he thought they didn't allow cameras anymore. (I used to take my 35mm camera in with me back when I went with my father when I was a kid.)

Does anyone know what the policy on cameras is? I know I saw people inside last year with cameras but maybe they had special permission or something. I don't want to get tossed out, but I'd also like to snap some pics if I can too - also at the outdoor demo day.

Technically, they aren't. However, if you have been there, you know that the #1 requirement is to take a backpack to carry all the swag you get. If you simply put the camera in the backpack, then take it out inside, you will be fine. That is what I did last year, and will do again this year.

Yeah, hopefully the freebies and swag will be good this year. Back in the day, the swag used to be top notch.

 

You didn't get any hassle or grief for taking pictures once you were inside last year?

As Springbok said, technically, no. In fact even the press (who have permisson to take photos in the building) are required to ask permisson to shoot anything in the area of the booths. (usually they take products out to the in-house studio for shots anyway)

 

What you will see is people sneaking out their small point and shoots and snapping pics while booth staff are not watching. It works but expect to catch grief if you are caught.

 

I saw one guy get caught a couple years ago - he was given the choice to erase the images in front of the people or be escorted out of the show...

 

Your call...

 

Just don't expect to bring in a Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II with a 300mm lens... :cheesy: and get away with it.

Photography Regulations

The PGA Golf Exhibitions Photo Tag entitles representatives of the media to take photographs on the Show floor during Show hours; however, no photographer or cameraman may shoot an exhibitor’s booth without the consent of that exhibitor. The exhibitor retains the right to refuse any photography of his booth.

Photographs taken at the Show are for editorial purposes only. The photographs taken at the Show are for the assigned publication and not for sale to outside parties.

 

The attendee policy is basically -"No Cameras"...that you get caught with!! :)

Will be my first time - I am travelling over from the UK for it on my own. Any recommendations and tips as all I have got sorted so far is the flights (wed & Sun) and my pass!!
