I went to my local Golf Galaxy to get a new putter in November. I didn't have any specific plans to get a certain brand but I thought I probably would end up with the Cameron SS Newport 2 based on looks (I also knew I would get an Anser style putter based on my personal preference). I spent several hours testing all of the higher end putters: Ping Redwood, Nike Unitized, Cameron SS, Cameron Circa 62, Bettinardi Mizuno, Bettinardi Hogan. I don't think the Black Swirl was out yet.

The final two came down to the Circa 62 #3 and the Mizuno Bettinardi C-03 (35 inch). I putted over and over with those two and found them to be very similar in weight, balance, and overall feel. I really liked the look of both.

I finally chose the Bettinardi for two reasons: (1) I generally prefer the look of a silver finished putter; and (2) the Bettinardi was $70 less expensive. I just couldn't justify the extra dollars on the Cameron when the Bettinardi felt just as good, if not better. I know the Cameron's have a much better resale value but I don't change putters often (I used my last putter--a Ping Pal--since 1984) so that didn't concern me.

I will also say after having putted with the Newport 2, I don't care for inserts, which is probably why it came down to the Circa 62 and C-03. Overall I thought the 35 inch Newport was too light in my hands and didn't feel as solid as the Circa 62 and C-03. I know the basic stats are the same (all 35/330) but the Newport 2 just didn't do it for me.

I've played several rounds of golf and had many practice green sessions with the C-03 and I absolutely love it. For me, it has a perfect feel and balance. I don't know if it would be perfect for everyone, as I know putter likes and dislikes are extremely subjective, but that's my opinion.

My only complaint about the C-03 is that I don't like the blue Mizuno grip and it will be replaced with a black Bettinardi grip.

Finally, I'll add that I've never been a fan of Mizuno, and I bought the putter despite the brand, not because of it.

I just bought the Mizuno Betty C-03 a month ago. I got rid of a scotty Newport pro platinium for it. I bought it for several reasons:

1.The head was just the stlye i was looking for

2.The weight felt just perfect and the balance felt beautiful aswell. It feels just right in the hands.

3.It felt not too soft an not too hard, the honeycomb face rolls beautifully

4.It felt the equal of any scotty I tested and considering the price difference it made more sense to buy the Betty

5.T he headcover is PIMP!! Drop it in mud and it'll never be the same again

On the downside I dont like the feel of the grip but ill soon replace this with a pingman or something of that style :drinks:

Good posting 502...

I have roughly 40 putters in the garage of which most are Scotties... and the one in the bag is an old Odyssey centre shafted white hot.

I've learnt during the putter fetish that the only thing which makes a putter good, is personal confidence in the look and feel.

In my opinion is putters not THAT much affected by technology.

I always tell my mates, don't play a stranger for money if his putter is older than you are. It's the Indian not the arrow...

ok, just got back from the golf store and im more cunfused than ever :) i just cant truly decide between the mizzy betty c-03 and the studio stainless. this is lame!!!! i wish one just stood out more than the other. i want to go with 1 oem driver through putter(i know i know, stupid) but thats me. i like the feel of the betty but looking down at it, it just wasnt as nice as the scotty. the balance was superb on the scotty and it actually had a nice click to it even with the insert. speaking of inserts, i dont know why so many people hate the gss insert on the scottys. especially when almost half the tour uses an odyssee with an insert. i got issues i know. well anyways, i still cant decide... :) ;) :)
