Tommy Armour Silver Scot Blades..Anyone Play or Own Them? Opinions Please.

Hey all,

I like nosing through older threads, especially the ones that are picture heavy. I'm no good at golf, but I LOVE the game. I always have. So I was looking through some threads that were discussing what you all thought were some of the most beautiful or great looking irons. One user post a pic of these Tommy Armour Silver Scot Blades. I have never seen these irons, but I was instantly taken by them. I think they are great looking clubs.

I done a bit of reading and they were made several years ago and were brought out at the same time with a set of forged cavity backs. I take it that they didn't sell very well and it wasn't long until they were being blown out at baargain prices by some of the discount golf shops. Naturally they aren't around now except on Ebay and they do show up there every once in a while.

I'd like to see a set of them and handle them. Better yet, even though I would have absolutely no business at all owning and playing a set of irons like these, I still would love to have them. Haven't you ever seen a set of clubs and they just sing to you? Something about these irons made me want them. All the Golf Nuts out there know what I'm talking about.

Have you ever hit these irons or had any experience with them? What do you think of them? If you do have updated pics of them, I sure would like to see them as they are pretty tough to find images of.

Lastly, what set of irons do you remember just "getting you" where you really wanted them and had to have a set whether it made sense for you to play them or not?

Hey man, I play them. I love them I saw a pic of them last year and had to have them. Find them on eBay and buy them. They are wonderful

Hello!

I can relate to "no good at golf but I absolutely LOVE the game". We're good enough to play and get results though!

If we are to believe the Maltby Playability Factor MPF charts, however, some of these Tommy Armour sets scored high for forgiveness.
845U Silver Back - 989
855 - 972
845 Vault - 944
Royal Scot - 855
845OS+ - 825
845 Stripe - 821
845 SIlver Scot - 784
845C Silver Back Forged - 747
845CS Silver Back Cast - 727
835 Hot Scot - 689
845 SIlver Scot Original - 677
845M Silver Back - 662
855 SIlver Scot - 650

All the ones at the bottom of this list are more forgiving on the MPF than a Cobra Amp, Mizuno JPX825, TM Burner 2.0 or Razr X forged. The 845c Silverback forged is as forgiving on the MPF as the AP1, though I must say it doesn't look like it!
