Anyone played these Myrtle Beach, SC courses?

Hi Folks, I've been invited to join a group of golfers for a golfing trip to Myrtle Beach, SC this summer. We're scheduled to play three different courses over 3 days, and just wanted to know if anyone has played on any of these courses before and what they liked about them. Not looking for negatives, since I don't want to get down about my first golf vacation, but just positives about what people enjoyed about these courses.

 

The three courses are:

 

Sandpiper Bay

Lions Paw

Panthers Run.

Well they are golf courses. If you want none of the negative then why ask? I am not trying to be a ****** but we probably would of told ya some other courses to play.

Lion Paw and Panther Run are two of the five courses at the "Big Cats" at Ocean Ridge Plantation. Its been a while, but I've played them both. Very nice from what I remember.

Sandpiper Bay is a 27 hole layout. It will be in good condition, with true greens. Water is a factor on many holes. Honestly, nothing about it stood out - good or bad - when I played it except for a closest to the pin contest on the 2nd hole that some guy was hawking. I would consider it a middle of the pack option for the Calabash area, with Thistle right down the road being a clear superior. Haven't played the cats courses

That being said, it's golf and you will have a great time there.

I live in Myrtle Beach. Play up in Brunswick Co. all the time.

Big Cats golf courses are Leopard's Chase (best), Tiger's Eye (next best), Lion's Paw (good) and Panther's Run (runt of the bunch, but not bad). Sandpiper Bay is okay, not great. Thistle is a better 27 hole layout, Pearl is a good 36.

I was invited to join a big group of folks, so choice of courses was not mine. Reason I don't want negatives is this is the first time I'm going on a golf trip -- I'm excited about it, last thing I want is to get bummed out before I even go. I think that's a fair request.

First time I'll be playing ocean courses, which I'm quite thrilled about. Some of the pictures look outstanding. Really excited. Considering I live in middle of nowhere, this is a big adventure for me. Maybe not like many WRXers here who play on Top 50 courses every week, but for me this is big news.

I get that. You will have fun regardless. If you get a free day to play go down and play pawley plantation. It is a nickalus design. Only course he owns a house on. Used to be private, one of the best 45 dollars you will EVER spend

Those courses are all fine courses but you know they aren't in Myrtle Beach right? That being said Brunswick county golf is great. Have been playing there for a long time.

$45 for Pawleys? We played in Feb one year and got hit $90 for a replay. I'm not suggesting that's not the summer rate, just surprised at the difference between summer and February.

Our group didn't care for it, too many trees in the middle of fairways, course was in poor condition compared to the other Pawleys courses we played that week.

Oh yeah from Feb-Mid May the course prices are insanely jacked up. then again in October-Nov.

Do locals have to pay the rack rate or do you pay a lower price?

Played Lion's Paw last summer and it was dead. I'm pretty sure we were some of the only one's on the course. Very mundane course in my opinion, nothing to write home about, but it was in fair condition.

I say who cares about the negative? You could be at work
