Ten year old driver!

I'm using a taylormade r580xd driver and while I'm hitting it well with decent length, will a new driver custom fitted make that much of difference or am I just wanting to throw money at a shiny new driver. Can someone put a bit of prospective on the subject?

If you want a shiny new driver, then get fitted and buy yourself one...but make sure you bring the R580 and your regular balls for a valid comparison between your existing driver and the fitters' recommendation. Only you can make the call on whether spending "X" for an improvement of "Y" is worthwhile.

If you wish to start playing club & shaft roulette based on heroic tales posted on interweb forums, just save the time and get a stack of $20's plus a disposable lighter, set them on fire, and call it a day. Repeat as often as often as you can stomach.

If your spin numbers are high with your old driver its worth a switch to the newer lower spinning head drivers. I just switched from an old R7 which just went way to high for me to a j40 driver and have hit my longest drives of my life the past 2 months 334yard and 345 yards. my average has gone up 20 yards with my really good hits way up there!
