Ping Extreme to Titleist X68

Who has made the switch?

I have a Ping Hoofer Extreme, and I am thinking of switching to the Titleist X68.
Has anyone done this and wish they had kept their Ping?
Comment on the switch to the Titleist carry straps, and storage pockets, better?

Went from a Hoofer Extreme to an x66. My Hoofer Extreme had the 8 way top. Didn't like it at all. Clubs tangled and it was hard getting the clubs back into the right spot afterwards, especially if I were trying to do so after I was walking down the fairway.

 

If Memory serves, I believe there are more pockets in my x66 than there are in my Hoofer Extreme.

 

There isn't an insulated beverage pocket in the Hoofer Extreme. Water gets warm during the Summer.

 

It does weigh less, the x66 weighs less than the HE however the x66 wasn't Titleist's top of the line stand bag like the Hoofer Extreme is/was to PING. Not sure about the x68 and how the weights compare between the two.

 

I did like the strap on the Hoofer Extreme. Helped picking the bag up and getting on a shoulder quickly. The Titleist carry straps are more comfortable though plus they aren't separated like the PING HE's are. It's all one piece where the PING has the retractable strap and the separate shoulder strap for your left shoulder.

 

The stand mechanism is where I have the problem with my x66. I am not a fan. I prefer how the HE stands up higher. The x66 is too low.

Not exactly, but went from a Hoofer 2 to an X66 so pretty close. Feels lighter. I can stuff as much in the pockets as I could in the Ping. I do miss the little valuables pocket in the Ping. Water bottle holder is nice to have. No club tangling and stand works great. It took a couple of rounds to get used to the straps, but now am very happy with them. Only downside is caddies can't double bag with the std straps (took a trip right after I got it and I probably won't have to worry about that again for quite awhile). Overall, very happy with the switch. Also, the rain hood is head and shoulds above my old Ping.

 

I really wanted to get the vantage, but the weight scared me away.

I went the other direction. I had the Titleist and got the Extreme. To me, straps and weight were the most important issues. Ping wins in both.

I used to have a Titleist bag, ditched it. I just ordered a CAMO PING Hoofer extreme from Dan's Discount Golf. BTW, they have 3 more bags in stock and that is all they can get!

I just retired my Hoofer 3 and picked up an x68. I like the more streamlined design of the x68 and the stand mechanism is more "crisp" than I was used to with the hoofer. Also, the color I got (orange, navy, grey) is pretty great, I think Titleist has the best color combinations with their bags. It's my first Titleist bag and I'm curious to see if it will hold up as well as my Hoofer, which was very durable and practically indestructable.

 

The strap mechanism on the Titleist is fairly comfortable, but I have to say that the hoofer dual straps might have been the best feature of that bag.

 

The one thing I already miss about my Hoofer is that it had more pockets than the x68. I could have practically lived out of that bag with all stuff I could store in it. Can anyone else with the x68 tell me where they store their tees and ball markers and other loose little items? There doesn't seem to be a small pocket for these things.

 

If you can live with a few less pockets then I think the x68 is a very cool bag. If you want more pockets, check out the x67 or x77, which was more bag than I was looking for.
