Cupped to bowed lead wrist early in transition - A flaw & looking for a fix

Over the years my swing has gotten better.

I do go through setbacks every now and then when life gets in the way.

One issue that I have always had is that my lead wrist (I am a lefty) goes from cupped to bowed at the beginning of the transition. My trailing thumb also comes off the grip.

My lower body used to leave upper body behind. Over the years the lower body (hips) have been subdued and the upper body (lead shoulder) comes off the chin quickly. Basically my transition is a lot better.

The early bowed lead wrist and trailing thumb coming off the grip has still been a mainstay.

 

Now if I am swinging a club in my living with no ball down there, then there is no bowing. The cup may flatten but not bow nor does the trailing thumb come off the grip. Note: Same thing occurs if I am hitting an impact bag.

 

This leads me to believe that I have a “hitter’s mentality” engrained into my swing when there is a golf ball down there in front of the club head.
