mini review
hi Guys

I bought TSG's last set this week and managed to get to the post office 2 minutes before they closed.
I was too excited and sorry to the few cars that I cut off
You really need to use that gas pedal. =)

I've only hit 5 balls into the net on a launch monitor and my mini-review compares it to the Miura CB2006 with Orange Peening xstiffs.
Not so much on performance without having played a few rounds which won't be for a while due to a healing right hand.
The Yamaha's look better in person than in the pictures and the quality is typical of high end Japanese equipment.
There are already pics up on this site and I can't match the clarity on those.

These fall into the players cavity category yet comparing them to the Miura CB2006, these look a bit more forgiving.
The sole is wide for a true players cavity which suits my negative angle of attack however I wish the edge was a little more blunt.
There is some trailing relief which is good. It's not too wide, perhaps slightly thinner or equal to that of the Epon 501.

The setup is what sets this apart from the rest. The main reason I bought the Adam blades was because of it's very square toe.
The Yamaha sets up really nice at address and the high toe is something that every iron should aspire to.
The top line is not super thin but thin enough. The topline has a square or flat top which I prefer over the rounded toplines of the TM's and Mizzies.
The finish is gorgeous. Satin for the most part and some areas have shiny chrome which gives it a hint of bling.
The primary reason I don't like shiny chrome is because dings are magnified and I tend to think it's a little flashy. Personal preference.
There's not too much going on in the cavity. It's not riddled with text and english that doesn't make sense.
I would have preferred if there was just kanji characters, that would be pretty cool. Kind of like the Yururi flat blades.
The specs show that these have some offset but I don't really see any. They just set up so nice and I think because of this, it makes you feel more comfortable over the ball.
You know that feeling when it just feels right...totally builds confidence and that's part of the battle.
I was very surprised that the standard 5i length is 35.5 which is 1/2 inch shorter than typical. They actually measured 35.25 which makes then 3/4 inch shorter.
Looks like Yamaha measures it to the butt of the shaft and not the butt of the grip, I don't know for sure. I'm comparing these to other irons that I have with a bench ruler.
Unfortunately these only come with S200 shafts. I will play with the stock setup for a while and see how they work out.
The lofts on this set is strong (46 PW) so I'm going to have to rework my wedge setup if I decide to keep these.

I understand these are Endo forged. They are not as soft or satisfying at impact as my Miura's. Part of it may be the shaft.
The impact is solid and harder. Hard to describe but. I hope it's just the shaft. My old Epon 501's felt better, this is something I'll need to experiment with.

Here's what I see on the launch monitor comparing it to the Miuras with the 7i:
The spin on the Yamaha is pretty low, about 2k rpm lower, and the trajectory is about 4 feet lower than the Miuras.
I think this is due to the strong lofts on the Yamaha. I really would like to see more spin. I'd prefer 5-6k rpm if possible for a 7i.
I was able to nail the sweetspot more often on the Yamaha, probably because the shaft is shorter, therefore my shot pattern was 6yds versus 12yds.
I've obtained a few mph faster ball speeds from the Yamaha. I attribute this to hitting the sweetspot more often and having a better smash factor.

So far I'm very happy with my purchase I would like to thank bogeydog for his help and advice.
I can't wait to hit the course in a few weeks.
This is my first iron set purchased from Tourspecgolf and they are great to deal with, highly recommended!

i don't know if i want to part with these.
these might push my Miura CB2006 out of the bag.
and those were REALLY good with a really good sole design and feel

looks like i'm going to be out of commission for a few months
we'll see how it goes with my xray with the hand surgeon.

remember, a "Ho" can always tempted with an offer that he/she can't refuse =)

i understand how impossible these are to get and i'm anxious to try them, they look really good, very high tech.
looks like someone put a lot of engineering into these, unlike others that just revise an existing design.
