NFC West plays some serious D. Seattle is a stout D club and at Qwest it is near impossible to win. Away from home, they are not quite the same team. It should be a battle this Thursday when my boys take on the Seahawks for some thursday night loving at Candlestick.

Can you help out a Niners' fan from Europe, who is scratching his head trying to figure out what they are planning to achieve with the downs on which they bring Kaepernick in?
I think it is an asset to have a young quarterback with his abilities, and I also think it is good to use him. But would it not be better to use him alongside Alex Smith on certain downs, keeping the defense guessing? The Steelers did that with Stewart when he first got there, and later even with Randle-El.
But the way the Niners do it now, bringing in their version of Tim Tebow instead of Smith for a few downs every game makes no sense to me. I think that Smith is a person who needs to feel fully appreciated and supported to perform at his best. After years of struggling, Harbaugh seemed to be able to convey the message of "You are my quarterback" to him, and he played up to his talent, which is (in theory) Immense, I think.
The constant changing between Smith and Kaepernick does more harm than good, it looks like their offense can't get into a rhythm and Smith is rattled. I think it would make more sense to let Kaepernick line up in the slot or let both line up in an option formation from time to time, but keep Smith in there all the time as "THE" quarterback.
Not that it would have mattered much against the Giants, when the whole team simply played rotten.

I see a gap. There definitely is a gap.

Agreed. Bringing in the Kapper for a few plays did great against the Jets and Bills, but the coaches got too fancy with it this past Sunday. He provides a great burst and change, but they need to be smart with him. I know Alex played bad and it was a clunker just about all around but the coaching staff and gameplan really confused me. Instead of exploiting the weaknesses of the Giants, they went after their strengths. We abandoned the run game way to early (it was 10-3 at half) and the playcall went into desperation mode which had Alex throwing all sorts of passes and him being off lead to the picks. The run game was working early but instead of continuing to pound it they went into pass mode. Not sure why. The D played pretty well considering that they had to protect a short field most the game. They held Eli to more fgs instead of touchdowns, or it could have gotten really ugly. A facet that we need to do much better on is special teams. Trading Colin Jones and not resigning Blake Costanzo were big mistakes. Those guys are st studs and continually held opposing teams back on returns. We miss them bad right now, the Tony Montana kickoff squad is lacking and its because of those two guys.

This was definately a let down game, but the game plan was pretty flawed to start. I would expect this Thursday for them to come out strong and focused. Seattle is a tough game with a stout elite defense, but arent quite the same team away from home. It should be a slugfest and Im looking forward to it. Me and the girlfriend are flying out weds night and will be there ready to rock. Hope they get the mojo back.

I dont think there are any clear cut teams right now that are SB favorites. The Texans look strong but just got waxed by GB at home, and now you have to wonder about GB coming back. I dont buy the Falcons as of now, I think they are a bit soft and their record is masked by wins over some easy teams, and we should see how they stack up against better competition in the coming weeks. Plus they seem to fizzle in the playoffs. Can never count out the Giants or Patriots either. With so many teams hovering around the same record, should be an interesting rest of the way.
