San Diego Launch Monitor Session

Anyone know a good place I can jump on a launch monitor? They have optifit carts at the driving range in Del Mar and I could always go to carlsbad however I dont want to fork out the cash. I want to spend no more than like 50 bucks...

Stadium Golf Center driving range would be my recommendation. I beleive they only charge $25 for a Vector session & it's a much nicer facility than Del Mar. Check out the website if you are not familiar - www.stadiumgolfcenter.com

I haven't done it there yet, but I was planning on taking a new Superquad that is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow to see what launch numbers I get from the stock shaft. I have taken lessons from the director of instruction there for a number of years & everyone I have met there is great. I know they have optifit carts for both TM and Callaway as well as demos of most other major brands. That said, if all you want is to test your current driver, then there is absolutely no reason at all why they would not do that since you are paying for it.

BTW, nothing against the Del Mar range, I actually live in Carmel Valley, however I make the treck to Stadium if I have the time.

I dont hit golf balls off of mats.

The two that I use are Staduim Golf and Carlsbad Golf Center. Both outdoors with vectors. You can hit just your own clubs and/or theirs to get fit. I have an appt this Friday at Stadium to to gather some data on my own Hibore XL and Superquad drivers.

I am most likely moving to San Diego in a few months and have been wondering how expensive it will be to practice/play golf there. I currently live in midwest and it's pretty reasonable. Would anyone list a couple of public courses that offer some good range plans together with some yearly memberships? For example, here in midwest, there are numbers of coruses that offer a membership for like $2,000 or something that also includes unlimited range balls. I know the range balls could be pretty expensive in the end. Thank you for your help.

Go to Golfmart in Mission Valley and ask for Mark. They will set you up in the simulator and check your numbers. It is on the other side of the freeway across from Target in Mission Valley. Tell Mark Jack sent you.

It really depends on where you live and when you can play. I haven't found membership very conducive here. Eastlake (south bay - Chula Vista) offers a weekday membership for around $1000 plus $175/mo. Riverwalk (mid-City, Mission Valley) is significantly more expensive... $5K plus the last time I checked. A lot of places around here offer discount golf cards, which is the route that we've chosen. You can get one for the American Golf Centers (llike Eastlake and Riverwalk) one for the JC Golf courses (more north county courses) that will let you play various courses at discounts. You can also buy discounted range cards at a lot of these places. For example at the American Golf places you can buy a $50 range card and get an additional $10 card. They are good at all of their courses. Stadium Golf Center (Mission Valley-Murphy Canyon) also offers discount range cards, and it's a terrific place to play.

Steele Canyon GC has a good membership plan going now! And if you want a great practice facility go to Stadium Golf Center and they have great coaches there too..Just left there!!

I second that on Steele Canyon. I used to be a member there myself until we moved to North County & the distance made it impossible to get out there with any regularity. You can actually get in there now for $2500 down & then $310 month. There are trying to transition to a completely private facility, however unless something changes, there is no way they will ever get enough members to do so. It's one of my favorite courses in own, so if you live nearby, it would be a great place. If you are going to be in downtown or near the southbay area, then San Diego Country Club is worth a look. It's widely regarded as the best course in San Diego & by some the best course south of Riviera. Best of luck & welcome to SD.
