can't stop pushing/hooking shots

Hey everyone. I have been working hard on my swing recently and have recently looked at some video of my swing. I noticed
that my backswing was very inside with my arms accross my chest too much. As a result, I hit a lot of hooks and pushes.
I hit it a bit straighter when I align my body to the left but that can lead to some inconsistent results. Have a look at my swing
and let me know what tips and drills you have for me. The picture included is where I want my swing to be at the top.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The picture you posted of the model you are trying to emulate is a very good one IMHO.

You do something very unusual that I've not seen before. Your problem is a simple one. You don't bend your right arm enough. This is also why you don't have much wrist ****. You should have a 90 deg. angle at you right elbow joint at the top of the swing. You do not pull the club too far inside on your take-away - I think you are just about right on the money in the first 1/2 of your take-away.

Do this to get the right concept in you mind:

1.Take your normal stance, grip & posture.

2. Without turning your shoulders, hips or the position of your right elbow, and keeping your left arm perfectly straight, start slowly bending your right arm so that it is at a 90 deg. angle at the elbow joint. See what has happened to your wrists? - Yes, they've cocked! See what has happened to the face of the club? Yes- it appears to have rotated open (without you feeling as though you've rolled your forearms)

3. Now, turn your shoulders to the top of backswing position and allow your right elbow to move just a couple of inches away from your side (still feeling pressure under the armpit).

Get a picture of this position and let me know if it matches your model. Get this idea right in your minds eye and bend that right arm!! There is a device called the "swing extender" that is very inexpensive that would help you get the right arm bending to the correct angle.

When you get that backswing straightened out, you'll need to work on a lot more hip and shoulder rotation in the downswing.
