I play the E5, cracking ball, hcp 7.

Driver swing speed is 95-100mph.

The E5 is urethane covered so provides most stop around the greens. Soft feel with the putter. Low compression ball.

The E6 is surlyn I think. Still a nice ball, just a little clicky off the putter. Doesn't grip around the greens as well. Low compression too.

They both price about the same (£20/dz).

Ideal for the slightly slower swing speeds than the big hitters, great for mid-high single digit.

E5 I like to call the poor mans pro v1. I got down to an 8 hcp playing this ball, only stopped playing it because I moved to west Texas and needed a better ball for the wind. Gets plenty of stop (not reverse) on approaches, really good ball for the money.

Never got the hang of the e5, just seemed too hard for my taste, and never felt like I had control 100 yds and in.
My driver ss at that point was around 104 if it matters (fallen off a little since then)

A bad day on the course is better than
a good day at work!

The E5 has a urethane cover and spins more than the E6. Its more for the player who doesn't struggle to keep the ball in play off the tee and commands some spin on approach. As chirotennis said its more of a ball that will stop rather than spin back. The E6 is geared towards a player that fights sidespin with the drive and wants distance over control. Both balls are for slower to moderate swing speeds. To me the E5 is the better value for the money as there are other balls IMO that perform similar to the E6 for a slightly lower retail price.

What is the player profile that plays these balls: driver swing speed? any single digit handicappers game it? lower cost? etc.
[/quote]
Lets break these questions down one by one. I am a ball fitter for Bridgestone golf, and will be until this coming Sunday, when my time as fitter ends and I start my new job as Assistant Professional in Atlanta begins on April 7th.
1. What is the player profile that plays these balls?
a: Any and every. It all depends on your LM #'s and preferences in feel and short game spin.

2. Driver swing speed?
a: for the e5, any and every. Again it depends on your LM #'s, tendencies off the tee, short game preferences...etc. For the e6, swing speeds up to 105 generally get the most out of this ball. SS's over 105 tend to over compress this ball, causing a loss in ball speed (because of the very low compression core). To give it credit, even at SS's over 105 the ball still does what it advertises to do : it kills backspin and side spin better than any ball I ever tested.

3. Any single digit handicappers game it?
a: yes for both balls. Again, it all depends on preferences and what you need most out of a golf ball based on LM #'s

4. Lower cost?
a: The value you get from these balls at 26.99 (again, based on what you need) is personally unparalleled in the industry. Only the Duo, old style Gamer's, and Lady Precept's are better value's (for the millionth freaking time, based on what you need)

Nice post gpro.

What would you recommend for the player who just about gets over 105mph? The 330RXS?

PJ72,
Swing speed, alone, tells me absolutely nothing. What's your handicap? Do you play a lot, a little? What ball do you currently play? What do you like, performance wise, about that golf ball? Do you have launch monitor numbers (averages) off the driver with this golf ball? What is your typical miss (hook, slice, push, pull, topped, whiff?) off of the tee? Do you typically hit the ball high or low? Do you have the ability to spin the ball on short chips and pitches (not do you want to, CAN YOU?)? What do you want to pay for a golf ball, under $30, or are you open to spending top dollar?
All these factor in to what ball would be best for you.
