Are There Other Comparable Tests Available?

The day I attendend the 4 day long Bridgestone Ball Test Challenge at the nearest GC offering the test, their monitor was on the blink. Therefore, I didn't get to take the 'challenge'.

Those I spoke to said that the test worked for them and they made a switch to a ball that did improve their overall game.

Has anybody tried the test provided by Golf Galaxy?

GG claims they have a calibrated monitor that is set up so that the player uses a Bridgestone e6+. After a series of swings, the results are a list of preferred balls that would best fit the player. It doesn't allow the player to test different balls and see the actual results when each ball is struck.

I was bummed when the Bridgestone monitor was down the one and only day I was able to travel to the GC. I was pretty confident that I would've been able to narrow down the ball search quite a bit, then consider the trade offs of driver vs. greenside performance.

Sorry I don't have any answers for you, I'm looking for the same information as you. My local driving range is hosting Bridgestone and I was wondering if it was worth it? Should I rearrange my schedule to attend this or is it not that big of a deal?

Those that I spoke to who took the test did find a ball that was better suited for their swing/equipment.

 

The monitor and s/w give readings for every different ball tried, unlike other monitors that give the same information regardless of ball used because it's all done mathematically.

 

I say it's worth it based on what I heard from those that took the test.

Does this system always recommend a Bridgestone ball?

 

Also, do they even try other brands?

I took the test today.. I normally play a pro v1 and on occasion I will play the B330 or e5+. My spin rate was really high and my side spin was up there as well. They actually had me try the e6+ and both numbers were cut in 1/2. My average carry increased 9 yards which is pretty good. The down side..... I love the feel of a pro v1 around the green... this is something the test doesn't take into account. They gave me a 2 pack of e6+, which I will try. Who knows I may switch to that ball.

Have been playing e5 and e6 the past 2 years...nice balls, and good value for the money....

I'm more then just a little bit disappointed in this experience. As a matter of fact, I have no plans to play a Bridgestone ball due to this.

 

The Bridgestone Challenge is not available to for lefties. Are you kidding me??? I got the the challenge, talked to the reps for a while and they were nice enough to give me a few demo balls. Unfortunately they told me that their equipment would not work for left handed players and that I was SOL. What a disappointment. I will stick with my Srixon balls.
