Rogue Driver Fitting Launch Monitor Numbers

I went in for a "tour van" fitting at 2nd swing in Minneapolis today. For those of you lucky enough to be near a 2nd swing this is an awesome experience. For a tinkerer this place is like a kid in the candy store. I currently game a 2016 M1 with a swing speed around 113 (confirmed on GC Quad today). I love the good swings with the M1 but my mishits have been pretty terrible so I've been in the search for something new. I went in with an open mind and was willing to try everything. I ended up hitting a Titleist 917, PING G400, G400 LST, Rogue, and Rogue Sub zero. The G400 LST had the highest ball speed and felt awesome but I couldnt get the spin numbers down to where I needed. The Rogue Sub Zero had great spin numbers but the mishits were pretty penalizing. The Rogue was great all-around. I was fit into a hazardus yellow 6.5 (x-stiff) shaft, head set to 8 degrees, and length -1 inch (I'm 6 feet tall so this surprised me). After the shaft change and finding the right shaft length this thing was AMAZING. I was able to go at the ball with no need to "steer" the club around. Very excited to game my new driver this year.

Don't be. Just be grateful you had a fitter that actually considered the playing length. That doesn't happen very often at retail store fittings.

 

First of all, driver (and fairways and hybrid) length fitting has much less to do with the persons size (height, arm length, WTF) then it does with iron length fitting. With the longer clubs, it is much more a factor of ones athletic ability and quality (consistency) of the swing. Second, stock driver lengths have been jacked so much that even -1" is still longer then what more traditional fitters might consider 'standard' length.

Just look at Crossfield when he tested Sadlowskis driver. He choked down 1.5” from the standard size. I don’t recall him ever giving a driver length but I bet he plays around 44” as a PGA Pro and hits it pretty consistently.

Yeah my current m1 is an 1.5 inches longer than my old Titleist 983 from high school. Both were considered "standard" when I bought them.
