stock shafts....watered down? fujikura?

I've heard good and bad about this shaft, but that was mainly crappy reviews at other sites. Really no good info. I have the ignite driver 460 in a stiff. I love the look and the solid feel of the head. Funny I didn't even really have the thought of a nike club when I started. I went through the months of testing other drivers. From the toy feeling of the ft3...even in the tour model. To the decent feeling of the cleveland 460 comp but nothing special. I did look at the yellow fungus balloon throwing ufo looking satellite dish which is know as the "sasquatch". No offense to the others that own it. That was just a humorous statement. (well, i thought it was funny) I just don't like the look down at it or that glowing yellow. I like yellow ...just not that yellow. I know Tiger has it. Even though he was the ability to pick between the difference in characteristics of the different heads for hours. I just never had a problem getting the ball up. Anyway, The ignite had a solid feeling. Reminding me of the ancient Mizuno driver that was the size of a five wood of today ...I was using to learn how to hit the ball on the sweet spot the size of a dime and know when I didn't. (Very good driving practice if anyone wants to give it a wirl!). But it was time for forgiveness. Anyway, the one I demoed was perfect. No sky high shots that get tackled by the wind. It felt great. Nice lower penetrating trajectory with ability to hit my high hook when necessary. But I didn't want the used one that was demoed to every encrazed Tiger fanatic. I wanted it new for the same price online (outrageous proshop prices!) So, I ordered it. I got it. AND....much to my surprise oddly it was higher in flight....seemed odd. Until, I found that most companies that sell in bulk have a 1/2 to 3/4 degree allowance. Of course when you talk to them there like we inspect everything. Ok....I mean I could see someone taking the time to make sure its quality not quantity. BUT>>>come on...you know how many of those heads are sold a day....It seems more logical to have an allowance here or there.

Anyway.......THe topic isn't why I picked the head ..or that when you hit a club you love buy that one. (Dont worry about it being shiny!) It is the shaft. The shaft does feel slightly less than a normal stiff shaft. (as in a watered down factory shaft that clubmakers sell with the head for a broad spectrum of handicaps needing to get the ball up). I have been playing for about a year and a half now. I shoot somewhere in the mid 80's. Last time I checked I was dead tired just getting off of work at six oclock in the morning and staying up till noon and my swing was 105. I am only 23....I feel if I wasn't so drained it would be more and gaining. This before I hurt my back. I haven't been able to hit a ball in two months now. But I am buying clubs. Ha! So I need opinions due to not being able to go test it myself. So you are all my test subjects! Come on laugh! I meant no harm. I would appreciate your help though. VERY MUCH>

The shaft ....the fujikura ignite possibly turd shaft cause I don't want to put my money into a better one. I know fujikura is a good shaft... Just don't know about the factory one. How bad or good is it? How stiff is the extra stiff? How much stiffer than the stiff? (ooh baby!) I feel I might be in the middle of the two. What are the downsided for you guys of a shaft being too flimsy or too stiff? I know people swings are different producing different results. But in your guys opinion what did they cause for you? I am getting the 3 and the 5 wood. I might send my Driver into nike to get it reshafted with xstiff if thats what i choose to go with......help me would ya! I would be out on the course testing if I could. I think xstiff might be a good idea in the 3 and 5. But I want all of them to be the same. right? Is the shaft a little softer than other stiff shaft? I need opinions people!

thank you very much for your help........seriously Justin

In my opinion, yes, the stock Ignite Fuji is whippier (tip-wise) than many stiff shafts. All of the shafts that Fuji makes for OEM's (Nike, Cleveland, Nicklaus, Tour Edge, Callaway, even the TM Reax) are designed to help get the ball up in the air. Also, the manufacturing tolerances for these shafts aren't that tight (for obvious economical reasons) so one shaft labeled "stiff" may play like another labeled "regular" and vice-versa. Working in a golf store, I love hearing the reps' presentations each year about their new products, they always say something like, "...and to top it all off it's shafted with a top-of-the-line Fujikura shaft, blah-blah-blah." It sounds like you could have decent results with an X in the Ignite shaft, or maybe try an "exotic" shaft upgrade (maybe the NV-65 or -75, which Nike offers as a custom/reshaft option. It'll play stiffer than the stock shaft). Hope this helps...

I was speaking of the head when I mentioned allowing the degree to be off. But, ya I could definetely see it about the shafts as well.

So getting a stiff or xstiff. Wouldn't make the shaft any better. But would getting a xstiff make it more like stiff in other shafts? Is the stiff shaft of the ignite (driver/woods) even feel like a stiff shaft in a good brand of shaft ... that isn't a stock shaft?

What is the xstiff ignite shaft like? Is it really stiff?

should I stick with the stiff? I feel like my swing is going to get faster the more I play but I know swing speed isn't the only appliable thing in picking a shaft. RIGHT? I mean sometimes a weaker shaft to me feels like it whips through and sometimes it feels like it hangs back. I heard it does both depending on what type of swing you have. I've also heard hitting a shaft that is too stiff makes everything feel dead. Or make you hit it low and right. But I really don't see that happening. It is a rare occasion for me to hit the ball low. Than again I was trying to swing with a more penetrating swing before I hurt my back. Maybe changing shafts to lower trajectory could possibly hurt distance. ?

I don't mean to be dumping all these questions on everyone. I just feel like maybe someone knows more about it than I do. (probably so) THanks for any help I can get

Oh ya... ANd what is "OEM" ? I know its probably a big corp . But what does it stand for? and what shaft do you use klumar? stiff...xstiff
