Flighted Rifle Shaft Question

I have a question regarding the shafts for my new Titleist 735's. I'm stuck between the Rifle 6 or Rifle 6.5, my driver S.S. is about 115-118. My question to you shaft gurus out there is what shaft would be the best option for me?

My Driver speed runs 108-112, max in the 118 range. Rifles play very stiff tip and I always played the 6.0 and played the 5.5 in a set of MP33's once. I like a little more feel in my irons so I'd go 6.0 for you.

If this is for Flighted Rifles my experience is that the fitting chart on the Royal Precision website is a good approximation using 6 iron carry:

170 yards => FR 5.5

180 yards => FR 6.0

190 yards => FR 6.5

 

I play FR5.5 and carry a 6 iron 180 and I am starting to think they are a bit too soft which matches the chart. I'm also in between stiff and x-stiff in my V2s if that helps.

 

The tip on the FR short irons is very stiff but softer in the long irons. The short irons in 5.5 are nothing like s300 and feel stiff and harsh unless you hit the ball in the center.

 

In your case you think your are between 6.0 and 6.5. Let's say you carry a 6 iron 185 (right in the middle of the chart). Unless you've played the flighted version or PX 6.5 or know you can handle x100s, I would take 6.0 in the flighted version but 6.5 in regular rifles.

 

This is just my advice if you had to buy them "blind". Best is to demo the shafts or get fitted. Some guys hate the flighted version and would have known that in a demo.

I enjoy the flighted shafts, but I was just nervous on which flex to buy, because I've never had a full set of flighted shafts before.

I would like to, if i may, suggest that you try the super peening blue shafts from Nippon. They are very accurate, in fact, as a tour pro I can truely say that there is quite a big differance between rifles and super peenings. Peening are 130g Butt kick but fly the same as rifles. The feel of the shafts are softer than one would expect from a heavier shaft. These shafts come in R, S and X flexes and the torque of the shafts are 1.5 in S and X flexes.
