Sandals Greg Norman Course Exuma?

Anyone have any Beta? Price? Have to be staying at Sandals resort? Any deals to be had?

Not a big fan of overpriced crappy golf...

Course does look pretty sweet from the photos.

Wife and I are headed there for 10 days in May for our belated Honeymoon (broke my shoulder two weeks before the wedding last summer). A friend of a friend has a house we're renting for next to nothing right on the Bonefishing flats. Plan is to do a lot of fishing and relaxing but wouldn't mind getting a few rounds in. Should We lug our sticks there? Maybe just rent?

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

I played there on my (also belated) honeymoon seven years ago, on a whim, back before I took my golf as seriously as I do now. It was a Four Seasons then, and it was decently high-priced (about $180 greens fees?) Rented sticks, shoes, bought a glove and balls, and plopped the new Mrs. in the cart with a bottle of tequila and some beers and off we went. We were literally the only ones on the course, the staff was really relaxed and accommodating and we had a great time. I think I even just had cargo shorts and a rugby shirt on.

From what I remember, there are the usual forgettable inland holes to make up the front nine. And then you hit the ocean and peninsula holes around the 10th and you see what you're paying for. Breathtaking views, ocean crashing all around you and huge breezes bending the flagstick.

You're never going to Great Exuma again (I'd wager), so why not go for it?

Stayed at the Four Seasons while doing some due diligence on building a competing resort. Considered playing the course and decided against it. Didn't feel the price was worth it, no matter how good the back nine was.

As the prior poster said, the front nine is kind of a "shiite show." I recall it was an "up and downer" with striking views of a wastewater treatment plant on some of the opening holes. I wouldn't discourage you from playing it, but wouldn't lug my clubs along for the "privilege."

Went to that sandals for a week about 16 months ago... At the time they were running a special just before Thanksgiving - golf was free with a butler suite so I took my own sticks. Played every day. I'm no longer with the girlfriend I went there with (not surprising considering I played at least 18 every morning there).... I live in the DC area and am surrounded by over priced golf courses - if they are charging 180 to play I'd play it once if you love the game - when I was there the pro let couples take carts out in the evening to see the views of the ocean.

An earlier post is pretty accurate - the front nine is nothing special visually and has few holes you will remember when you come back - still very challenging from the back 2 sets of tees. BUT the back nine is incredible and difficult at the same time. I thought it was well worth it. If you're only planning on playing once I'd just rent the clubs. Good luck and let us know how the trip goes!
