WHY AM I OPENING THE CLUB FACE SO MUCH ON BACKSWING??

I think it may have something to do with my right fore arm rolling open. I'm not sure. Point me in the right direction guys. Thanks. This was a good shot btw. But it's causing pulls and weak blocks on to the right.

This is what I see I personally don't think it has anything to do with the position of the face in the backswing that the pull / block happens.

Swing model: two-plane
Clubface: square to open
>> Jack Nicklaus played two-plane and square face at the top, this is not a bad thing at all.

Backswing
~ Takeaway looks great I don't see an issue with it
~ The arms start to work vertically witch complements the takeaway of the arms getting slight elevation.
>> The top of the backswing has the shaft at roughly 45* parallel to the ground, this is fine if that is as much as you can rotate your shoulders with a stable lower body.

Downswing (conflict in sequence)
~ CONFLICT :: The hips rotate to start the downswing, this will drop the hands and shaft behind the body from an upright position getting "stuck"
>> When the club gets "stuck" the hands have to save it creating pulls, pushes, hooks really hard to time the impact consistently.

~ POSSIBLE FIX :: Laterally shift the hips in the transition w/o them rotating.
>> WHY :: The hands need to drop down in front of the chest in transition before the body rotates to counter the lift in the backswing, if they don't you get the "stuck" position.


POSSIBLE DRILL
~ Hit some shots with the right heel on the ground at impact.
>> To pull this off your hips will have to rotate less in transition and into impact.

~ Look at his lower body in the downswing compared to yours.
>> notice that he slides, then rotates but the right heel is very low to the ground.

[/quote]. Ok so bump then rotate... My hip are just spinning out right now. Causing me to get stuck. Vs a lateral weight shift to get the club to drop. Sounds good thank u

Yes exactly right
~ Lift in arms = lateral shift in hips...
>> Your hands need to drop down some before you rotate.

The more the lift in the arms in the backswing the more lateral slide you need, so you will have to figure out how much slide you need before rotation happens.
