Augusta Tech?

Golf Course Management

I'm only 14, but i'm thinking about my future, as we have a very pushy guidance and careers teacher at school... I'm in S3 in Scotland, which is my 10th year at school, and have 3 years of school left.

I would like to either do Landscape Architecture or Golf Course Management at University, as I'd like to either do Golf Course Design or be a greenkeeper if I don't make it on tour/as a teaching professional...

I came across a Golf Course Management degree at Augusta Tech College. I don't know anything about Augusta Tech, and don't even know if it has a golf team.

If anyone could give me some information on either of these, or any more informtion would be much appreciated. And if there's any other Universities or Colleges which do either of my chosen degrees or any other degrees which would help towards greenkeeping/Golf Course Design, please tell me...

I'm at NC State University and we have a PGM program and a turfgrass program as well. I think that what you are talking about is like the PGM, heres a link that talks about it and lists all the schools with it http://www.pga.com/home/pgaofamerica/profe...t-workshops.cfm. Turfgrass would be what you want if you wanted to work on the actuall courses, for ex) greenskeeper, superintendent.

i live in augusta and my dad actually retired from state of ga after being admissions director at augusta tech for most of his career.

 

this is a 2 year technical program. i don't think they have a golf team anymore - at one time they did, but it was stopped for different reasons.

 

i think if you want to make a career out of it, go the 4 yr way. Mississippi state has a very good program. have a family member that went there and is a rep for titleist now. nc state as mentioned also has a good program.

 

but all in all, even with personal ties to Augusta tech, i'd honestly look at some of the major universities in the us with golf programs, not 2yr tech schools.
