Sumo2

I don't usually post on internet forums because I use them for the wealth of information that can usually be found. If I don't have something that I feel would be of interest or would better people by reading it then I keep my mouth shut.

Say what you will about me but I bought a Sumo2 the morning that Nike issued the recall, I hit several clubs and I decided that 250-260 yd drives in the fairway were better than 260-270 in the fairway next to me. Call me crazy but I don' care what it looks, smells, tastes, or sounds like if a club is going to make this great game that we all we love more enjoyable for me I am all for it. With technology in this game growing by leaps and bounds like it is, I am admitadely first in line for something that will lower my score, amen pass the credit card is usually what I am thinking every time something new comes out.

Anyways I have been reading everybody's opinion on my new purchase and people either love it or hate it, i can accept that, but today I decided that I would go to a simulator and hit my club because it will be another month before I can get it on the course. As I am quietly swinging away in my own stall a guy comes up and says "is that the new square driver" I politely told him yes thinking that he would be curious to see it and ask some questions. The next words out of his mouth were " how does it feel to buy a non-USGA conforming club".

As if he was being the all-knowing simulator god. He seemed as if he wanted to be sure that I knew the club didn't conform. I kept my cool and told him I had bought it the morning of the recall and that I thought I would give up some distance to have a little more accuracy. He then says that he would "give up a few yards for that also and it wouldn't be that big of a deal because he hits its 290" He then walks off and I sat there for a second thinking did he really just say that to me. I hit a few more balls and my concentration was shot so I packed it up and came home.

I am not a great golfer or really even considered by most to be good but I enjoy the game, and all aspects of it. It upsets me to think that there are arrogant @ssholes out there like I dealt with today. I know that the male ego is a SOB and I am just a guilty as the moron I dealt with today, but If you have an opinion about somebody's gear by all means express it in a logical non-threatening way, and don't turn it into a pissing contest about the length of your drives.

Thanks for letting me vent

Ignore the morons' comments because the very driver YOU have may be conforming as not all the heads produced exceed the limits.

Also. The length of someone's drive has nothing to do with the score at the end of the day. JB Holmes can outdrive just about anyone in the world. Did that help him? He was +15 thru 10 holes today and finished with 83. Those "long" drives didn't help him. I don't consider myself long off the tee. I average around 280. However I fire rounds under par just about every time I play. So don't listen to that crap. I am not long at all with my irons, but I hit them solid and with good control and accurate.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
