Bethpage Options 7/22-7/25

I'll be in NYC for work 7/22-7/25 and was hoping to play the Black course that week. Found out this morning from one of my employees that the NY State Open is 7/22-7/24. Does anyone around that area know if they'll allow play on Friday 7/25?

 

Unfortunately I fly home around 4pm from Newark on 7/25 but looking to change my flight to 8:30pm in case we can get on. For someone who's played it, can you tell me what to exepct time wise for 18 holes and travel from Penn? I was thinking 5-6 hours for golf and 1 hour each way from from the stations.

 

My 2nd choice would be the Red course that week which I hear is excellent as well. However everything falls into the hands of the Long Island Railroad as I hear they're expecting to strike by the end of this month. Then I'm totally SOL. I wouldn't pay the car fee to get from midtown to Farmingdale.

 

Looking for any other course options around the city as well.

Play the Red course, it is a tough challenge from the tips. A bit easier to score on than the Black.

That's what we talked about doing, and he was going to make a tee time next week since he can book one 7 days in advance. Hope LIRR works out their stuff so I can even make it to the park. You can ride carts on the Red course correct? My guess is it'll still be busy with the Black course being closed.

You can ride carts, and you will find it enjoyable. Hole #1 has to be one of the hardest opening holes out there. I was hot from the tee on the back and still shot a 47, just had no idea where the bunkers were relative to the green - picking up a yardage book at the pro shop will definitely be worth it beforehand.
