LOL, funny guys.

I can't find anyone to rewhip persimmon, so I'm figuring it out myself.

Have found the guys at Golftown on Kenastion pretty good, at least for regripping, fitting, and adjusting L/L/L.

Seems to me there's a guy our Ste. Anne way who's a club builder and PGA certified. Normally has ads on Kijiji.

Realize the OP is not coming back, but someone else may show up here looking for some advice.

If it's Jacques Lavack, he is very good.

One thing to consider before you whip a club. Why did the whipping come off? The usual answer to that is that the hosel has cracked and forced it off. If that is the case, mere whipping isn't going to solve the problem. The shaft needs to come out and re-epoxied and that is a real pain. Worse if there is a pin in the head. I won't even touch that kind of thing any more.

I haven't whipped a club in years although I'm sure I could still do it if I had whipping. The key is to start with a good point at the top of the ferrule. If the ferrule doesn't have a lip for it (flush to the shaft) it is more difficult to get started. From there it is all about equal pressure on the whipping as you rotate the club. You need about a 3" piece that you previously cut off before you started whipping to finish it off. It's like a fishing knot where you pull the last piece under the last 6 or so windings. Once you have that done, wipe the whipping with acetone to "melt" it and it all sticks together. Done right it should never come apart.

Hint: you need to anchor the shaft in something while you hold the whipping in one hand and turn the club with the other.

Thanks for the tips.

In both cases I have for rewhipping, the necks and ferrules are fine, but the whipping was lost somewhere. So no issues there.

Dave Woods' website also has a nice photo by photo tutorial on how to refinish a club including the whipping. Thanks for the acetone tip though as I don't remember reading that there.
