A little more than a year ago, I bought my father a set of PING I5's. Since he was in South Africa, I used the web-fit program, and it indicated that based on his wrist to floor and height, he needed Green dot. I figured this is right, since when I entered my info, I was Green dot too, and hitting off a lie board, I am indeed a Green dot.

 

My father is visiting, so we have played some rounds, and I have seen him hit on the range. He is 61 and 5 handicap. He is a really solid ball striker, but I noticed that he is getting no distance on his irons. I took him to Edwin Watts, who have a PING cart, and gave him varying color code irons to hit. Well, ends up that he needs irons that are 2* flat, i.e. orange dot. However, I wanted to see what impact graphite shafts would have, and the only one they had was a red dot, R-flex 6 iron. Even though it was only 1* flat, the lie board results were very good, and impact was at the center. I had the EW guy verify the lie angle on the club was indeed 1* flat, and it was. He said that the head lag/tilt at impact with the R flex graphite shafts would explain it.

 

Here's the kicker though. My father was a good 15-20 yards longer with the R-Flex graphites.

 

OK, now back to the story... My father leaves on the 26th. On Monday, I called Dan and asked how fast he can get me a set of Red dot G5's 4-PW, R-Flex graphite, + 50*, 54*, and 58* Tour Wedges with R-Flex Graphite. He said he "I know someone at PING", and said he would do what he can. Well, today (Wednesday), i.e. 2 days after placing the order, at 11:30AM, the UPS guys delivered all 10 clubs, perfectly to spec. BIG thanks to Dan and his staff at DiscountDansGolf, as well as the guys at PING.

Just bought a another set(Rapture 4-W tour concepts) from Dan on Monday. He is a pleasure to deal with. He repeats your order several times to get your clubs right. Some may say that's overkill. When ordering from a phone across the country it's nice to know he has it down. His prices are really good too. If you know what you want, don't order your set until you get a price from him. My last set was quoted at three weeks delivery, but they came in a week. Hopefully these come just as quickly.

3 days later the clubs were at my door. could not blieve how fast they arrived. dan was the cheapest price to boot.

Anyone else get annoyed about Ping fixing their prices on their clubs? I work in a golf shop, and it chaps my Word not allowed when a great customer comes in and I can't even give him a slight discount on Ping product without taking the chance of having our account yanked by Ping...BDL
