Old retro bag ?

Can anyone tell me anything about this old bag? i.e. is it leather or a vinyl copy. Location is

I can't tell it's leather, but seems like good quality. Looks like the oval shape, I'd date it in the 1950-60's.

Try to look at a place where there's no underlining to determine if leather.

Thanks for your reply - it isn't my bag so I can't check the material, but it does look like a quality bag, a lot better than I had in the 70's which held a #2 wood, #4 wood, 2 - 9 irons and a putter (no wedges). I had a hcp of 22.

I think it's unique because of the clasps and pocket layout. If it's for sale, I'd strongly consider buying it because it's cool!

Cool bag. Would only buy if it's a few dollars. That way if it's a goodin you've got a bargain.

Those oldies are often heavy as sin, the leather is so dry as to be perishing inside and dies when you start using it - similarly if it's old vinyl it can sometimes crack easy.

Looks like some of the 'Apex' branded bags we had here in NZ a few decades ago. I bought a cool looking black leather Apex, tidied it up, pitched the strap over my shoulder and 'snap'. Went straight in the skip and just use newer bags for my old gear (until a real decent one comes my way).

Thanks for your input, I thought it was cool as well. The owner is giving it away but I am quite a distance from and I already have 3 golf bags !

Hi kiwi Che - I started my golf at Rawhiti public links in New Brighton, Christchurch, then joined Waimairi Beach.
I remember seeing a lot of old bags around in the 70's ( I had one ) but this one doesn't ring any bells. As a classic bag it would look great with a collection of old wooden clubs, Spaldings, Dunlops or whatever from the past.

5 brands - wow! but I agree, club numbers don't mean a lot to me; the loft numbers do, eg My Cleveland #3 is a 4 wood (17*).
Modern clubs are like swiss army knives - so many adjustable options. I set my Adams on 10.5f which flattens the lie because I have a natural draw shot, can't remember when I sliced or faded one, and my muscles & brain are hardwired to a draw, so it's easier (and probably better at my age) to adjust the club rather than change my swing. Works for me.
