I've never found the apps to be nearly as accurate as the digital level. The level is still the best option IMO

Little late to the topic but if you calibrate the app before use it’s reliable.

It's VERY accurate if calibrated (takes a few seconds: do a read, flip it 180, press a button). I've tested it up against a Husky Digital level with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. And just like cameras, the one that is always with you in your pocket is more useful than the big one you left at home.

 

One caveat: the back of your phone must be flat, with no raised surfaces, so it lays flat in both directions. A stock newish iPhone has raised edges around the camera lenses, so you'll need to find a case which levels off the back. The majority of cases out there ALSO have raised ridges around the cameras, but I found this one which is a very nice case:

edit February 2024: wouldn’t recommend anymore, needed to be calibrated every 2 weeks or so or it wouldn’t read correctly.

Is there a standard table that defines the amount of break at a given distance for a given slope?     Like where I could look up a 1% slope a 20 foot pot would break X number of inches.   This is obviously a function of green speed but maybe that’s also considered in some of the standard distances.   I’m just getting into Aimpoint I need some help.

The original Aimpoint system included a booklet that had those numbers.  For instance on a 9 stimp green, the aim outside the hole point on 20 footers, at right angles to the slope, is:

1% aim 9 inches above the hole

2% aim 20 inches high

3% aim 33 inches high

 

The numbers are arranged on clock diagrams with concentric rings, rather than in tables. 

 

I believe there is something called Vector Putting that also uses measurements of break.

 

Maybe keep an eye on eBay for an Aimpoint booklet.
