Classic bags

Okay. Having a bit of a run through my stock as I like to make up bags to play and will have a few gaps (and will undoubtedly form the start of some more 'wanted' ads once I get round to it). My collection is mainly MacGregor which, in retrospect, was somewhat of an error when I launched on my vintage journey as I could have picked something more readily available in the United Kingdom. Never mind eh?

For these, what I like the idea of is having a set of clubs you could have walked out of the professional's shop with in a particular year - like getting something off the same page of Kaplan.

Firstly, putting together one from the late 1950s..

This is the closest I have to a collector set as they have original shafts and grips. Are the later Super Eye-O-Matic model woods (which need some love) and are M85s whilst the irons are M75s. I do have M75 woods with the winged logo, but not a matched set with the original components.

Then have some early 1960s with the MT sun logo, woods, irons from two to nine and exploder. The anachromism here is old Jimmy Demaret putter. Don't have original grips.

Finally, late 1960s one to four wood, three iron down to sand wedge. Again, use an older Ironmaster putter with these.

Just finished doing up the woods so still need whipping.

Some less congruous non-MacGregor bags to follow.

Next, varying vintages of Hogan/Slazenger...

Modern re-issue driver, speed-slot three and four, Slazenger irons, modern sure-out and funny old Slazenger Hogan putter. Nice playing set this, but recently decided to strip down the speed-slots. Needs a wedge.

Hagen/Wilson...

Wilson strata-bloc staff model driver, Hagen four wood, FG17 two iron, Hagen 1980s model ultra down to the nine iron (hopefully finding the matching eight iron soon), and use a more modern R20 and a Ray Cook putter. Great four wood. Needs some cosmetic work, mind you. Has some pedigree as the insert was re-done by Harry Busson. And this driver was once owned by Ronnie "one height" White, the first man to defend the Brabazon. I reckon an 8802 would look nice in that bag...
