Playing with young guys...

Played tuesday night in our league it was myself (42) and another guy (47) in a cart together, and in the other cart 16 year old kid, and 20 year old kid. After reading all of the stuff in this forum, i looked over at my cart mate and said these kids have never had the privilege of hitting a persimmon driver with a balata ball, then giving that same ball a big smiley face when you dead blade your second shot. Ahhhhh the memories...

When I golfed against young guys in league, I made a point of making them hit a blade at least once, and try one of my FWs if they were so inclined.

One was despondent about his lie, and that trees blocked his path to all but the front edge of the green. I gave him a blade, had him set up for a draw, and sure enough, he hit the very first draw of his life around the trees and on to the green (to 4' from the pin no less). The goofy grin on his face after that shot is what makes "vintage" golf so appealing to me. I'm sure I've had that look on my face a time or two as well.

Or that feeling when your buddy hands Percy back to you (Hey - is that a Toney Penna?) with a new dent on the crown/back of the club head/pick a spot. The emotional range of feeling gut-punched to wanting to punch him in the gut. Because he hurt Percy. And he needs to be hurt, too.

Not that that's ever happened to me.

^ LOL, dtrayler. I do lightly refinish my gamers every year, so a scratch or wear on the finish isn't a big deal.

However, now that I'm in love with my M75W, I'm not sure I'll let anyone else touch it. At all. Period. In fact, I believe it is lonely in the trunk of my car right now, and needs to be brought into my office.

Scooter - Do we need to ask that this get merged with the "Dating Persimmon Drivers" thread? I hadn't peeked in that thread yet, was a little worried it might not be "G" rated (love affairs with certain drivers, cheating, etc.)

All kidding aside - I understand. I think if I had that M75W, I'd not let anyone use it either. Matter of fact - I'd probably ask that they face away when I remove the head cover.

I'm very sad. There was a set of M75 on ebay with covers, nobody bidding. I set my bid at the asking price, then left for the weekend. Of course, someone bid 50 cents more...

[/quote]I would just have to sneak a peek. In fact if I owned it I would not want me to hit it either much less someone else. As a general rule for me I don't mind other folks hitting my clubs but I do not want to hit other folks clubs myself. I guess that is just one of my anal things
