In Love With 1973 Hogan Apex Blades

I cannot profess my love for Ben Hogan clubs enough. When I picked up these about a year ago I absolutely hated everything but the look at address . The grips were worn to the shafts and the DG S300 shafts felt harsh and brittle at impact. So, naturally in my hoe-ing ways I tossed them in the closet and continued on with my Staff Tour Blades...

 

I recently dug them out of the closet after remembering how crisp the 8 iron looked at address (my standard for club beauty!) I decided to give them a make over. Scrubbed the faces, paintfilled, lead taped, and re-gripped with golf pride knock-offs...I have to declare, I am in love. These are literally point and shoot with the nicest 2 iron I have ever had the pleasure of shanking LOL. I have finally found the sweetspots and I am content (for now).

 

After a long and unpleasant break from the classics, I think it is safe to say that I am back in business. The Hogan persimmons have found their spot in my bag and I have never been happier.

Great to hear. I have the Apex IIs, PCs and Redlines and each set is wonderful. Currently stalking a set of '73s to extend the family.

If you ever get the chance to compare your S300 shafted clubs with an Apex 4, it would be interesting to hear what you think.
