What did Wie do @ Ginn Pro Am ?

Why was she spoken to by the Commish about her behavior?

I have heard bits and pieces but not the whole story. What exactly did she do in the pro am to get the Commish involved after the fact?

I feel a little guilty about it, but I am interested to hear what it was.

 

It may be as well for her game/reputation to go seriously wrong now so she can get it out of the way all at once and come back stronger in a year or two.

Speaking for myself and not GD, enemies seems a bit strong and questioning her character seems a little out of line to me. I could be wrong, but I don't think most see it that way. I think a level headed look at the facts coupled with the fact that she is a 17 year old child (get it? - a child!) says stop blaming her. I don't believe she is making these poor decisons. Others are doing it for her. Going away to college will probably be the best thing for her psyche and her golf career.

 

Myself and a few others have said or inferred what we think the biggest problem is - mismanagement, inteferring handlers, putting the almighty $$$ in front of accomplishment and the parents being sold an emotional con job by those chosen to represent and guide Michelle.

 

There is no doubt she is a brilliant talent. Let's hope others do not destroy it before it can blossom.

Agreed, she is a great talent; however, when she gets another sponsor's exemption and then finally wins, is all forgotten? We shall see. Wish her all the best. When she is playing well, she adds to the mix of great talent on the LPGA: Annika, Paula, Karrie, Pressel, Kerr, Lincicome, among others. Great for the LPGA Tour. MEMO TO SELF: never snub pro-am guests of presenting sponsor. Smile and play golf.

Snubbing sponsors' guests? Sounds like a very stupid thing to do. If indeed it happened.

Wow if that's true that speakes to a real character issue. Maybe she should have posted her 90 and been kicked off the tour for the rest of the year. With all the problems the LPGA prez is creating with sponsors this could really hurt.

 

I'm not a Wie hater at all. Well maybe I don't like her Dad much for how he mismanages her. But other then that I wish her well. She's the future of the LPGA tour. But acting like Barry Bonds isn't a great avenue to take.

 

Boy I hope this isn't true.

Michelle is acting like a petulant teenager. Unfortunately, she is professional; whether or not she has any standing with the LPGA. Her "handlers" have been a problem almost as long as she has been participating in pro tournaments. When BJ was on the bag, he wasn't aware of some of the niceties and nuances of etiquette on the course -- stepped on lines, didn't tend the flag quite according to Hoyle, etc. As Michelle's notoriety increased, the whole bunch of them acted as though her invitations were an intitlement and ignored a whole bunch of courtesies, etc. It all culminated at the Ginn where there were all sorts of things going on -- the entourage had to be asked to leave the practice range (which is reserved for players, caddies, and coaches only). Had I dropped more than 1k to play with this brat (who, by the way, had to volunteer to play in the proam as she isn't required to because she is a non-member of the LPGA) -- sure other players will sit on their bags, but the pros normally engage their paying playing partners vs. flop down with his/her back to the group. She has been playing now for about 6 years on sponsors' exemptions. Enough with the excuse that she is only X-years old -- she isn't 10! This young lady needs to learn manners, courtesy, golf and life courtesy, oh and hire an English tutor. Her grammar and speech is atrocious -- sure doesn't say much for the high-end high school that she attended or the Stanford language requirements for in-coming freshman. Her parents should be ashamed of themselves as should she. Her problems are the reason that professional tours have a miminum age requirement. She needs to go away and grow up before she tries to play in the fast lane with men and women who have worked hard and EARNED their way to a card.
